[NBA History @NBAHistory]

The NBA mourns the passing of Oscar Schmidt (1958-2026). The Brazilian basketball legend debuted for Brazil at 19 in 1977 and played in every Olympics from 1980 to 1996. Oscar’s the all-time leading scorer in Olympic history with more than 1,000 points and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013. We extend our deepest condolences to the Schmidt family.

Today is a big moment for WhatsApp in Brazil. Messaging has become an important tool for millions of small businesses there. Following the success of payments on WhatsApp in India, where people use it to buy groceries and metro tickets, we’re now rolling it out for small businesses in Brazil. Brazilians can now browse products, add them to a cart and make secure payments from a WhatsApp chat.
