seeing a lot of chatter re: what opensea should be building vs. not building.
our goal isn't for opensea to simply be the best place to trade NFTs. it's to be the best non-custodial place to trade anything onchain. so let me address both hot topics directly.
re: RWAs, they're an extremely exciting use case for blockchain and NFTs. i talked about them on a half dozen interviews at Consensys just a few weeks ago. we are building and innovating on this front, and will have progress to share soon. trust me, as an avid pokemon collector this is something i'm particularly excited about.
on perps, it's early, but this has been one of the stickiest products we've ever rolled out in beta. people love it without farming or incentives, and the data shows that. if we want to be a place where everyone can trade anything onchain, we need perps too. the next million users of crypto will expect it as tablestakes alongside everything else.
today, you can come to opensea and connect all of your wallets across 26 blockchains and see a consolidated portfolio of all your assets; major crypto, nfts, tokens/memecoins. and you can trade all of these seamlessly without worrying about what chain your on or how you want to pay. this is the foundation and rails for what comes next.
the onchain future is going to be vast and vibrant, and we're preparing for all aspects of it. perps vs. RWAs isn't an either/or decision. both (and more) are part of the vision.

@opensea We still believe in SEA, but after the Q1 delay and months without clarity, the community hopes for more transparency. Strong products can launch in any market-Hyperliquid proved that. 🙏
And while we appreciate the extended 0% fees, long-term supporters would love some SEA news
What if your NFT could think?
What if it could use tools?

AFX mainnet is live.
Trading opens today with four USDC-margined linear futures.
AFX is built as a dedicated Layer 1 for perpetual markets, combining low-latency execution, an onchain orderbook, self-custody, onchain settlement, and verifiable trading infrastructure.
@fr1ko_eth@lokithebird Yes, that's true, even when Bitcoin was over 100,000, nothing happened...
Honestly, this is my only hope after the timer...
Maybe they just want our money. 😅
erc-721 collections created via opensea studio can no longer have their supply increased after minting has begun. if supply is increased via onchain means, the drop will be automatically delisted from opensea.
as a reminder, anyone can launch collections via our creator studio. seeing a drop on opensea does not mean that we're involved with, support or endorse it. it's always the responsibility of users to conduct their own research into teams/projects before making purchases.
that being said, when we can put sensible protections in place, we believe it's important to do so. a special thanks to legend @tom_hirst for jumping on this one so quickly based on recent community feedback!
In April, some blue chip NFTs made a surge in prices off of the positive sentiment around apes & NFTs
In May, growth slowed down, yes, but what’s more interesting to point out is how these NFTs now find new floor after April:
> Punks: 26 ETH to 30 ETH
> BAYC: 5 ETH to 10 ETH
> Pudgy Penguins: 4 ETH to 5 ETH
> MAYC: 0.74 ETH to 1.55 ETH
> Azuki: 0.69 ETH to 1.05 ETH
> Koda: 0.5 ETH to 1 ETH
> Lil Pudgys: 0.4 ETH to 0.5 ETH
This is a healthy slowdown because we now see major collections that rallied last month find a new and higher floor
And them slowing down on their ascend doesn’t really mean bad for NFTs as we now see attention being back in NFTs and new mints doing well again in May
This is also a signal that NFTs had bottomed already
We now have double the wallets and triple the volume, against every NFT market prediction.
OpenSea, how much more favorable do conditions need to get? 😭
@waleswoosh Starting to wonder if this is all just a joke...
I’ve always believed in OpenSea and been here for a long time, but I can’t lie — the doubts are starting to creep in.
Hope I’m wrong.
@craigscoinpurse I fully believe in OpenSea, but I don’t understand the silence right now.
BTC/ETH are stable, the market is holding up, and NFTs are performing extremely well.
Feels like the perfect setup — so what are they waiting for? 🤨
