Stephen A. Smith spent years telling everyone that the office of the President deserves respect. In 2015 he said the face of any franchise should always show the President respect. Period.

Interesting.

Because somehow that principle seemed crystal clear when Barack Obama was in office. When Donald Trump entered office, suddenly respect became optional, conditional, negotiable, and dependent on personal feelings.

That’s the problem people have with so many political commentators. The standard changes depending on whose name is on the ballot. That’s corny.

If respect for the office matters, it matters all the time.
