@n0spoken @random_2_return@RagamuffinTwink @JayJay63945374 @yuksnykusun @jentayIor You can say the world is going further left. But regardless of that, the right-wing content bubble is also taking people further right. Social media is dividing us into our belief buckets and driving us further apart to keep us online, churning out clicks and ad revenue.
@n0spoken @random_2_return@RagamuffinTwink @JayJay63945374 @yuksnykusun @jentayIor I’ve been in your shoes, I know that the content is appealing. It shifts your personal ideologies in their direction and is really fucked up how rigged it is against you. I don’t think it’s an indictment on you personally either because that’s the point of propaganda.
@andylancaster@ThreeBurner@thund3rbrad@CurtisHouck@gregg_re@julieroginsky Decision making at the top has become completely out of touch with what people want to see, I think that is what lost so many people. Normal people have things they hate about the culture and they are too corporate/money driven for messages to really resonate with the left
@andylancaster@ThreeBurner@thund3rbrad@CurtisHouck@gregg_re@julieroginsky I think it goes beyond this election but the wake up call has arrived. economy (policy/messaging), border (policy) and trans (messaging mostly) issues.
I think the cultural messaging problems stink for some people in the same way Trump’s culture does for others.
@ThreeBurner@andylancaster@thund3rbrad@CurtisHouck@gregg_re@julieroginsky I think it’s obvious that modern liberals have gotten a bit ahead of themselves. It will take a bit of regression back to messaging that resonates with normal people to get them back on board. I think the beliefs haven’t changed much, but communicating those beliefs has shifted
@andylancaster@ThreeBurner@thund3rbrad@CurtisHouck@gregg_re@julieroginsky Yeah but in my opinion those are different issues from the culture war and identity politics that many people are turned off by. I think that specifically those two things are messaging issues. The things you bring up are more rooted in core beliefs and a bit of messaging as well
@ThreeBurner@andylancaster@thund3rbrad@CurtisHouck@gregg_re@julieroginsky But that is the exact point we are making. The core belief *is* just inclusion and giving everyone a seat at the table. The messaging is going wrong because normal people are interacting normally with things they don’t understand and being reprimanded for it. That is messaging
@andylancaster@ThreeBurner@thund3rbrad@CurtisHouck@gregg_re@julieroginsky Yes, I think that this exact aspect of the world view/especially messaging will be what Democrats look to get rid of. If they can get back to just inclusion and treating all Americans normally their message will have a far greater impact. Nobody has any issues with that
@ThreeBurner@thund3rbrad@andylancaster@CurtisHouck@gregg_re@julieroginsky The underlying belief is inclusion of all people regardless of who or what someone is. That isn’t an inherently wrong belief that people disagree with, it becomes problematic when everyday people are forced to pander to microgroups that they have no exposure or relation to
@GauthierEys@BroUnoriginal@RadioFreeTom It’s kind of a modern grassroots movement. Online culture moves so fast that big gains can be made but not seen. I have fallen into the trap myself before, it’s extremely effective on young, impressionable minds who don’t think for themselves yet
@GauthierEys@BroUnoriginal@RadioFreeTom This goes beyond party affiliation, it’s a problem with society in general. But the right has indeed developed infrastructure to use this system to mobilize and spread their message. If the left wants any chance to compete they need to figure out a way to match that
@carrick510@Kirblar024@moonbeamer6@lxeagle17 Yeah, Democrats probably need to go with a down-to-earth young white man from south/central/midwest America to get things back on track with those voters. Poor whites need someone that will resonate
Then again if the country gets ruined by the incoming admin the choices widen
@JockoJonson@GauthierEys@BroUnoriginal@RadioFreeTom Isn’t it obvious by now that mainstream media no longer holds weight on the public?
And those are endorsements. I’m talking about reshaping of culture around unchecked social media consumption. Algorithms training people’s minds to think differently, often for the worse
@MostBestNarco@CrustifierHERO@ItsGreen412 @HoernerMVP I assume you did not go to college, as I don’t think anyone who has experienced this would hold this position. But you are right, there are other ways to educate yourself. I just don’t believe that would be a good way. Balanced learning, culture, business, and introspection >>
@MostBestNarco@CrustifierHERO@ItsGreen412 @HoernerMVP Besides, that teacher was likely a college grad themselves. And these opportunities simply do not exist- college students would be picked ahead of uneducated people because they bring more value to a business, except in rare cases. Why settle for people who have limited utility?
