Circle of life 🫶

The offspring came visiting to watch Dadda on stage host the annual @iimunofficial Championship. He sat through 3 hours on consecutive days with the biggest smile in the world to see ‘Dadda in concert’. Eventually came up backstage to give me a gentle hug to tell me that I did alright :).. and quietly slipped in that he would like to go up and make an announcement on the mic.

There were over 3000 beautiful humans in attendance but I promise you that I only saw ‘one’ ��️

I have never understood the concept of 'self made. There are so many forces at play which become the wind underneath your wings helping you make the journeys you take on in life. One such strong wind retired last evening.

Tiwari Ji has been my pillar, self anointed bouncer, quasi manager, unasked political and religious commentator and a driving aide for the last 12 years. I found him on the sets of my first television gig and alongside him we traversed some great roads. Every recognition or award of mine was celebrated with a greater euphoric smile and a picture together which soon became our tradition. He saw me through crazy hours at work, on my good days and not so good ones.

He drove our first born home with us and I drove him home when he lost his father. We've seen each other laugh, celebrate & grieve. I don't think I'll miss his driving. But I don't know what it will be to be a set without him. Today is my first :(

P.S. We celebrated Tiwari Ji's birthday with a farewell dinner last evening at ours. He brought his first lady and a hoola hoop for Sufi

This morning was spent in the very distinguished company of some home made poha, Italian cappuccino and my retired veteran @captainpsm’s FIRST COPY of his Hindi adaptation of his coffee table book, ‘Guns And Glory, Rajputana Chronicle’ -> Parakram Aur Parampara!

For someone who begins his work day at 5 am everyday, come rain or shine, addressing him as retired may not be entirely factually correct. I’ve seen him over the past two decades most passionately drown himself in his research and quest of finding & authenticating stories which are gloriously captured in this book.

To anyone who is a history aficionado or is drawn to stories from the yore, this must be owned and preserved. I invite you to share my old man’s work of passion and it would mean so much to us if you did decide to give his book a read.

Last night was special. We won the honour of Best Actor Drama, Jury - Television for the 3rd consecutive year at the @theitaofficial for a very special show and character which keeps giving 🌸

To be rewarded for the collective passion, discipline and craft of my entire team, cast & crew at Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Season 2 & 3 is a feat I will never take for granted. Massive gratitude to my collaborator and industry champion @ektarkapoor for your continued trust, belief and love.

This honour would not be the same if I din’t have the absolute support of my best half @JANK_EE to share this who took over the bulk of our parenting responsibilities whilst I toiled on my show. Hopefully I’ve been making up for it in the last few months 😉
