Languages aren’t dying because people don’t care.
They’re dying because caring isn’t incentivized
So the real question isn’t
“how do we save languages?”
It’s this:
What would make someone choose their native language…
even when it costs them visibility?
You don’t need to travel to experience something new.
You can live in one country your whole life, never leave your city
and still have your first “journey” through a conversation.
Because the first time you speak to someone from a different part of the world, your world gets bigger.
That’s the magic of language
Я никогда не путешествовала, не выезжала из страны и даже никогда не была на море, никогда не общалась с иностранцами, поэтому я так радуюсь кстати. Мне кажется будто это своего рода путешествие)
Of the approximately 7,000 languages spoken today, nearly half are expected to vanish before the end of this century
unfortunately the internet, which was supposed to connect the world, has quietly accelerated the extinction...
... When every platform rewards English, when every algorithm optimizes for reach, minority languages are ignored completely
