Steam Next Fest is only two weeks away, but I already know a demo you should try out.
In this game you're an occult university student. Your professor asks you to summon a powerful demon for homework.
THAT turns out to be the least suspicious thing he's done.
- Perform tactile rituals with candles, runes, and forbidden magic
- Place demonic cards on a pentagram to complete the summons
- Discover your professor is hiding something
- Try not to anger the Hand
We approached our launch on https://t.co/F2gE3m4Twg as an experiment and tried to get the most out of what itch can offer. Here’s what we learned learned in the process: https://t.co/HPvaSGOuDx
I hope it's helpful for your indie releases too.
It’s so easy to promote visuals-first games. You show it, and if it’s stylish and beautiful, people fall in love.
I’ve always found it harder to promote the other kind of games, projects where you really need to try them before you even know if you want the full thing.
We launched a small “alpha” version on browser platforms, including https://t.co/F2gE3m4Twg. A lot of indie hits started as tiny itch projects, so we wanted to try that route... but treat it more deliberately.
Updating here as well:
Starting this month I’m no longer part of Critical Reflex. These have been four eventful years that meant a lot to me, genuinely life-changing.
Now moving on to something new, stay tuned.
@jogamedev Thanks for the opportunity to ask a question. I saw your content on YT shorts about your new game. How it's doing wishlist wise btw?
What's the harderst part of marketing these tactical / autobattler / thinky games? Or, what was the biggest revelation for you in this regard?
Are we doing good? You tell me. The community of the game HATED us for the trailers we made at first.
If you’re curious about our trailer journey, all the trials and errors included, I’ll share it in exchange for a few likes.
GIMMIKO is one of those games that are cool, but tough to market.
At CR, we challenged ourselves to rethink how we present it. It took 3-4 different trailer iterations to get it right. Only now we’re seeing better view numbers, which finally feels like a good sign.
and what if we told you there are more trailers huh?? brand new GIMMIKO trailer OUT NOW!!!!!
featuring:
- even more bosses
- even more gimmicks
- an ambigious ending that's kind of a big deal but you don't know that yet!!!!!!
