Those ridiculous “DLSS 5 slop” images going around are NOT the whole story.

I finally had time to mess around with it myself in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and honestly, people are massively overreacting.

The real trick is how aggressively you use it. Too much can completely change the look. Used properly, it can look phenomenal.

Tifa is much harder to get right. I think her in-game model plays a big part in that. Interestingly, I don’t have nearly the same issue with her in cutscenes.

It uses neural rendering to infuse pixels with photoreal lighting and materials while staying grounded in the game’s existing 3D content.

These games weren’t developed with this technology in mind. In the future, developers should account for it and tune things like intensity, color grading and masking to make sure their artistic vision is preserved for anyone who chooses to use it.

BUT...

At this performance cost? NO THANK YOU.

A lot of you asked what I used to get Final Fantasy XIII looking this gorgeous next to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

So here’s exactly what I used:

• The FF XIII HD Project
• HD Models Plus
Both are available on Nexus Mods.

I’m playing FFXIII at 3840×2160 and 60 FPS. The mods mainly improve things like textures and character models, while the PC version itself can already run at 4K.

15 years apart, and FFXIII still has a lot more to show than people seem to remember.

If you haven't played it yet, give it a chance and try it with these mods.

Don't let the hate surrounding this game make up your mind for you. Play it yourself and see what you think.

Quick update on HoYoverse’s Nodus Fall:

In a statement provided to PC Gamer following Gamescom, HoYoverse confirmed that Nodus Fall will not rely on a traditional gacha model.

Key monetization details:

• Free-to-Play structure

• All characters unlocked strictly through gameplay progression

• Monetization limited entirely to optional cosmetics and skins

A noticeable shift in strategy compared to Genshin Impact and their previous titles.
