The new chickens are getting a crash course in British weather today. We started the morning with snow, then we had sleet, then wind & rain, now blue skies and sunshine. They’re all awkwardly trying to carry on as if nothing is happening 🌨🌧💨🌦☀️ #Weather
My three new @bhwt hens haven’t quite gotten the hang of sleeping inside the chicken house yet. Close though… On the first night, they tried to sleep on the ground so I take this as a definite sign of improvement 🥰
@SuperDivineWeb Hello Trace! I'm Laura, from Derby, dog mum, mum to 2 daughters, need coffee on drip, loves ice hockey, learning BSL and run my side hustle selling handmade bath and shower products alongside my full-time job in Structural Engineering ❤️ #sayhellotoday#sbswinnershour
Good evening #sbswinnershour bit late joining. Hope you’re all well. Been a busy few days in the workshop making lots of sawdust but just had to share my latest handmade fountain pen and ball point pen set made from elm burr.

@bitemespices It lasted less than a week in my house. What summer shoes are you planning to go to? My week got off to a productive start so hope that continues 😅 how’s yours? #SBSwinnershour
@HamiltonsHens A head torch is such a good idea. We realised on our first patrol that our torches weren’t good enough so Martin ordered this one on a whim and it was pretty good for spotting the frogs/toads at a distance. Don’t know how waterproof it is though https://t.co/K63MErdFUQ
This evening, I helped 21 frogs & 2 toads cross a busy road to get to their breeding ponds🐸 I happen to live right on their migration site - the temp/humidity were ideal for them to make a move 🥰 For anyone interested in helping amphibians to survive 👉 https://t.co/hmwXYErH86
@HamiltonsHens Did you wear hi-viz, you’ll look more official like you’re working 😅 I think our site is quite well known because they’ve been putting toad watch road signs up for a few years. I think because it’s my road, I don’t care how dodgy I look 😂
@HamiltonsHens 😂 We got approached by police tonight asking what we were doing but that wasn’t their main reason for stopping. They said there were reports of a man trying car doors on our road. Whoever he was, he chose a bad night with multiple patrollers out with torches checking driveways🤣
@HamiltonsHens It does sadly involve taking the dead ones off the road so they don’t get double counted 😢 it has spurred me on though, that’s why we spent so long out tonight just trying to make sure we got as many as possible 🥺
@HamiltonsHens Definitely worth checking it out a few times, I think you’re right to go again. Poor little guys. We get lots of people stopping in their cars asking what we’re doing. I guess we do look a bit strange wandering around in the dark with torches and buckets in the rain 😂
@HamiltonsHens It’s a long road with a row of houses either side, on one side behind 1 row is the river/ponds where they breed. They have no choice but to cross the road. They’re quite old houses, many 1930s including mine but surrounding areas have been developed and the road gotten busier
@HamiltonsHens Did you see any frogs/toads at all? Is it still an active site? It’s such a shame how their habitats are being disrupted/destroyed. Before I started doing it, I just didn’t realise how endangered toads were 😢
