Grain market consultant. Kentucky born and raised. Love Jesus, family, Ag, coffee, and cooking. My employer and co-workers may or may not approve of my post.
Senate Democrats are wanting to create a strategic fertilizer reserve and are asking the USDA to look into the feasibility of it.
I'll save the U.S. government a lot of time and more importantly, a lot of money.
IT DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT.
I won’t even add credibility to the “we’ll never see a 4 handle in corn again on my lifetime with requote. Yes higher lows still justified. Lots of broke people said “ it has to” and “never”. Manage the margins like every other business in the world.
Hmmm, my friend the corn pit. Bullish divergence, momentum studies flatlining. Methinks the market either wants to spook some short covering or seek new input. Never feels good when positions mostly ride on a weather forecast.
At this point I had a customer say it best. "We have a crop". Trend maybe, but challenged. Rain provides a crop but EXCESS limits upside in yield. I've not had high quality wheat with excess June moisture in SRW. Condition improvement in IN/IL next week would surprise me.
Both wheat and beans have a bullish undertone. Beans due to Chinese buying and wheat because it is in very poor shape in the US. Corn could be a surprise, due to areas of replant, excessive moisture in the eastern, and really dry in the western corn belt portions.
The first tar spot cases of the 2026 growing season have been confirmed in 3 #Iowa counties, raising concern as farmers recover from an active weather pattern last week.

With inflation raging, and the Admin trying to kill any speculative interest in commodities to fuel said inflation, today's WASDE report comes in..????
Money supply is skyrocketing:
Global money supply is now up to a record $121.9 trillion.
Over the last 2 years, money supply has soared +$17.1 trillion, or +16%.
This also marks a +$27 trillion increase, or +28%, since the 2022 low.
This means that global money supply is surging +7% to +8% a year.
Meanwhile, US M2 money supply jumped +$1 trillion YoY, or +4.6%, to a record $22.7 trillion.
Money supply growth is accelerating.
Corn Belt agronomists share one word to sum up April’s impact on #crops. In Wisconsin, April was described as "non-ideal" for planting progress. In Nebraska, it was described as "variable." And in east central Illinois, it was "spotty."

BREAKING: The UAE will leave OPEC and OPEC+ on May 1, ending 59 years of membership. The UAE is OPEC's third-largest producer and directly cited the Strait of Hormuz crisis in its decision.
Free from OPEC quotas, the UAE can now flood the market with an additional 1 million barrels per day, undermining Iran's strategy of using high oil prices as leverage against the US.
According to Jim Wiesemeyer, USDA is set to hold a 4:15 p.m. ET press conference today focused on fertilizer initiatives. EPA’s Lee Zeldin will also be there. Here’s what @SecRollins said about the planned announcement last week. https://t.co/NKFrLrT8pX
