As many of you know by now, the @Blast Council has been discontinued.
@djenn already shared a detailed post explaining why the council was created, so I won’t repeat what’s already been said there. I just want to speak from my side.
At the end of the day, I genuinely wish I could’ve done more.
This isn’t a post to assign blame. But the truth is the council didn’t have the power, influence, or structure it needed to really make a difference imo. It wasn’t used to its full potential or, at least, I like to think we could have made a bigger impact.
After being invited to join, I did multiple calls with the team (mainly Sao and Hydra), and sent dozens of written suggestions to the team -> everything from improving ecosystem comms to campaign ideas, to feedback on what I thought were key areas for the project to improve.
I pushed every Blast post I could, joined every AMA and shared full recaps for those who missed them. I created the Inner Circle free TG group to keep the community engaged, and tried my best to carry the Blast spirit forward.
I had a lot of fun along the way farming Blast Gold, messing around with the dapps, joining the PacBot gang wars (shoutout to @Lennart_up, a true friendship I've made), and even launching Yield for a Cause with legends like @icobeast, @JerryJonesIlI, and @pasteltonesss. This last one is still my highlight since joining Web3, as we managed to mint out over a million dollars in NFTs to raise money for an institution that fights cancer.
I know I left my mark. I don’t regret a second spent in the ecosystem. And to be clear I’m not “leaving.” But the reality is that right now there isn’t much publicly happening to keep that same energy alive.
As @djenn mentioned, people often assumed Blast Council members had more internal power than we actually did. At times, we were even mistaken for official team members.
This is a post I’ve probably been avoiding for a while, but I owed it to you to be transparent. And to @PacmanBlur and the Blast team, I want to say thank you for the opportunity and for trusting me with a role in such a tight-knit group.
As everyone knows, the council members were paid a monthly compensation. And in my case, that monthly compensation truly helped me during a hard period of my life. It actually helped me more than the Blast team may realizes and I’ll always be forever grateful for it.
Blast fam, whatever the future holds, I’ll be around. And if there’s ever another moment to give the ecosystem a push, I’ll be there to help.
Much love.
Zora out.
The last post from @wals_eth got me thinking about what it really means to be part of the Blast Council.
I spent a year shilling @blast, building a community from scratch, and grinding non-stop to until eventually @PacmanBlur and the team recognizeded my dedication. That effort and hard work are the reason why I’m comfortable writing this today.
I get where people are coming from with their critiques of the latest update. I could write a long thread about it, but here’s what matters: the vision has been clear since day one. Reducing everything to “four buttons” on the front end doesn’t reflect the massive effort that’s gone into this project - the backend work, the regulatory hurdles, and the hours they’ve put in to bypass app store restrictions.
I’m not a fanboy or a simp. I’ve kept it real with the team from day one, and that’s something I know they respect about me. Their comms and narrative building are not what we expect from them, and I’ve called it out more than once (@internatblast can vouch for this). I’ll keep pushing for them to improve because that’s what this ecosystem deserves.
The early days of Blast were some of the best times I’ve had in crypto, not because I was printing money but because it was fun. Pacman and the team built something that rewarded engagement with projects building in the L2 and made you want to be part of it. That foundation is what I’ve stayed here for, and it’s why I still believe in what is being built. Crypto moves so fast that it's easy to forget the past. I say we shouldn't.
I’ve got skin in the game: a fair allocation in @scorefam_io and @FenixFinance, 30k gold from crushing gangs in the @Pacbotapp gang wars, and earning from my Council seat, nothing to hide there. I’m still here because I believe in the vision and the work behind it.
And I have to agree with @Chilearmy123's last video. He has been a true Blast supporter and when someone like him makes post saying that it will be his last video on Blast, I think the team should stop and listen. The Marketing and comms are a real problem and I will double down right now. It is absolutely mandatory that this point get vastly improved moving forward.
A decent product and an excited community will always beat a great product and a frustrated community.
But if you’ve waited months for this mobile vision to come together, waiting a bit longer won’t kill you. Those posting about leaving Blast or hating on it are still here because it mattered to you. If it didn’t, you wouldn’t be talking about it. Hating never comes from a place of indifference. Ever.
And yes, @Cbb0fe, this goes for you too. If Blast was truly irrelevant, you’d have stopped posting a long time ago. Call me naive, but I think one day, you’ll be back to bull-posting about Blast.
We’re combining Arcade Research and Blast Foundation operations into a single streamlined structure run by @PacmanBlur. Blast is made in the US and we will support the burgeoning crypto market in the USA.
With this change, we’re introducing Blast Mobile and over 50% APY on USD!
Blast's mobile platform is launching alongside tokenomics updates later this month.
All Blast Dapps should make sure to distribute Points and Gold to users ahead of those changes. There will be no January Gold distribution.
All users should make sure to sign into the Blast website with their wallets as well.
We’ll share an official launch date shortly!
