An Italian administrative court has suspended the implementation of a deal to equip Rome’s Fiumicino Airport with a radar system manufactured by Israeli company Rafael.

The court ordered the system to be replaced within about two months by one produced by Italian company ELT. It also referred the procurement case to prosecutors in Rome to investigate suspected irregularities.

The ruling comes amid growing opposition in Italy to military cooperation with Israel, following Rome’s suspension of the renewal of its defense agreement with Israel and worsening relations over the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon.
