I am beyond thrilled to share my latest publication, titled “The visibility of Chinese game localizers on Gcores: Personal branding, networking, business collaboration, and game distribution”, published in @l10njournal 🎮👾✨

Chinese game localizers are increasingly active on social media platforms, using them for online sharing and engagement. My study focuses specifically on their social media practices on Gcores 机核 @Gamecores_ (https://t.co/XYFgL431ZW), a prominent Chinese media platform.
Using a combination of netnography and practice-led research, I draw on my experience as a content creator on Gcores to introduce the process and features of online sharing. Additionally, through content and discourse analysis of the shared materials and audience comments, I delve into the broader implications of these practices.
The findings shed light on the interconnection between game localization, the visibility of translators, the game community, and media communication.
I hope that my work offers readers fresh insights and innovative perspectives for both research and practice!

It is an expanded version of the research I presented at DiGRA Australia 2024, and it’s also a part of my PhD work. It focuses on how players explore and express gender through avatar customization.
I’m incredibly grateful to my supervisors, Xavier Ho and Jess Berry, for their guidance, support, and encouragement throughout this process. Your insights have been invaluable.
The enforcement of Australia’s new law on #LootBoxes that games containing them must be rated at least M (not recommended for under-15s) is an absolute JOKE.
Pokémon TCG Pocket (@PokemonTCGP) released on 22 October 2024 discloses loot box presence and was rated just G (nada).
Things haven’t been going smoothly lately - The NVivo software provided by university has expired. So now I have to document my coding manually and then transfer it into NVivo once the issue is resolved. But that’s gonna add a lot of extra work.
It's defs the end of the world.🙂
@Kayde_Nuen Yeah it might be not that easy to find the specific names of the writers especially in a mobile game, as they are often remain behind the scenes
