Lummis presses the case for the CLARITY Act ahead of next week's Senate vote
@SenLummis argued that the United States should write its own digital asset rules instead of "watching from the sidelines while Singapore or the UAE write them for us."
The chamber returns from recess coming Monday and takes up cloture on H.R. 3633 the following day. Sixty votes are needed to proceed, and several Democrats still oppose parts of the text.

He said failing to do that would signal the U.S. will not lead on crypto.

We didn’t cede the internet to Europe, and we can’t afford to cede digital assets the same way. The Clarity Act allows the United States to write these rules instead of watching from the sidelines while Singapore or the UAE write them for us. Our country has a long history of leading. We cannot break from that tradition.
.@SecScottBessent is right. More than a year of bipartisan work has brought CLARITY to this moment. It’s time for the Senate to move it forward and deliver clear rules that protect consumers, strengthen national security, and ensure that America leads.
The Senate should listen to @SecScottBessent!
It’s time to pass this strong, bipartisan bill which will protect consumers, help our law enforcement officials, and keep this growing industry based in America. Let’s send the Clarity Act to President Trump’s desk.
In July, I called on the Senate to advance the Clarity Act — a bill to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets and upgrade our ability to prevent bad actors from exploiting these critical technologies.
When the Senate returns from August recess, I strongly urge everyone to remain at the negotiating table, agree to the motion to proceed, and continue the legislative process. Failing to do so would send a troubling signal to our allies and adversaries alike that America is unwilling to lead on the future of digital assets and willing to forgo enhanced national security tools to combat their misuse.
