This isn’t isolated- @kenyanmcduffie has photos of 32BJ members on his campaign website without permission and despite the fact that our members did NOT endorse his mayoral campaign!
Yesterday, @GCAARNow began distributing materials to DC voters claiming that our Council along with @IAFF36 and DC Nurses endorsed @kenyanmcduffie. This claim is patently false.
Not only did we NOT endorse McDuffie, not a single union has endorsed him. Our statement:

Governor Spanberger’s decision to veto public sector collective bargaining is a betrayal to Virginia’s workers who were promised change.
We’re disappointed, not deterred. We will not stop fighting until all workers in Virginia have their rights protected by law. Onward.
It's always fun to read Martin Wolf but the below para. is simply not true. The US and the UK were the dominant deficit countries (in absolute terms) long before the eurozone crisis. Also it's weird to call the US the great balancer when its deficit is the largest contributor to global imbalances. I think it would help the discourse to try to understand these imbalances in proper context - that we live in a global dollar system. https://t.co/KqFUOYV4fS
Very right empirically on US and UK imbalances. And yes, the last point Wolf makes is wild: the US capital surplus is as much a contributor to global imbalances as the Chinese trade deficit and it too is maintained by a highly imbalanced domestic political-economic equilibrium characterised by high rates of extraction which guarantees the high returns which have been the principal driver of in-bound financial flows and demand for dollar assets.
I am extremely concerned about Ecuadorian President Noboa’s lawfare against political opponents, which includes banning the country’s largest political party until after its November elections. Now, Noboa is persecuting former Presidential candidate Andrés Arauz for “attempting to influence institutions of the state”—a baseless political accusation.
I will continue to monitor Andrés’ case closely, and urge the protection of his and other political opponents’ human rights.
However it ends, the US-Israeli war on Iran and Lebanon will have lasting economic impacts across the Global South.

If labour’s share of global income had stayed at its 2004 level, workers would have received an additional $2.4 trillion in 2024 alone. Speaking tomorrow at the L20 event hosted by @AFLCIO on what it takes to reverse this: conditionalities on public investment that share both risks and rewards.

"The estimated $12 trillion held in employer-sponsored defined contribution plans is a great prize for unregulated financial actors. ... the Trump Administration has been an ally, placing the growth of this unregulated finance at the center of its agenda." https://t.co/hy2GPNKeua
Earlier this week, I broke fast at Rikers Island with New Yorkers in custody, Department of Correction staff, Commissioner Stanley Richards, and Councilmember Yusef Salaam.
It was a night that will stay with me for quite some time. People sharing what little they have: breaking bread, offering prayer, making space for one another’s dignity even in the hardest place.
In a system too often defined by what it takes, I was reminded of what it means to give—mercy, dignity, and humanity.
May we extend that mercy as far as we can. Eid Mubarak to all.
