In the Army we say ‘Youngster nahi karega, toh kaun karega’.

If you can not find a fault in his professional capabilities, don’t do this nuktachini for such a pure gesture of love and belonging.

Military equipment has been on display during many ‘Know your Army’ exhibitions around the country. The students and non military personnel have clicked pics with it showing pride and love for the Army. So, please don’t bring in the national security angle into this.

Let the young soldier do his national duty with pride and honour 👍

A recent incident from Uttarakhand quietly reminds us of this simple yet profound truth.

A senior police officer, holding the rank of IG, chose to pause, listen and truly listen to a retired Army Colonel facing a land-related issue.

No protocol barriers. No indifference.
Just empathy. Just action.

His words carried the weight of the nation’s conscience:
“You gave your life for the nation, we’ll take action immediately.”

That moment was not merely about resolving a grievance.
It was about acknowledging sacrifice.
It was about honoring a life of service, even after the uniform is folded away.

The veteran, Colonel Soban Singh Danu (Retd.), who reportedly lost a limb in the line of duty, represents countless soldiers who have given everything
often silently,
often without expectation,
often without asking for anything in return.

And yet, when the system responds with humanity, it restores faith not just for one veteran, but for an entire fraternity.

This is what veterans seek.
Not privilege, but respect.

Military leaders are trained their whole lives to be bold & decisive (sometimes to the point of foolishness). It is such bold/ audacious leaders who get you victory. General Sagat is a case in point, as is Gen Dayal in capturing Haji Pir. They never stopped due to geopolitics.

During covid, they cancelled the tickets and did not refund the amount. Forced me to take credit shell which was to be utilised in next one year. One could not travel for years due to covid.
