“No amount of dams built in Ethiopia will hurt Egypt or Sudan”: Meles Zenawi
Today marks 14 years since the passing of #Ethiopia’s late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi. His words on the Nile are worth replaying as #Egypt renews its warnings alleging Ethiopia “plans to control the flows of the Nile River to downstream countries” by building more dams.
Meles was the leader who envisioned and mobilized Ethiopia’s signature, self-financed national project, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (#GERD), initially advanced under the name “Project X” before its official launch.
Speaking to Egyptian media shortly before his death, Meles argued that additional dams in Ethiopia would not threaten downstream countries.
“On the contrary, if dams are built in Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan will benefit.”

@HaileTaye3 Finfine belongs to Oromia. Taxation issue should be clear. Moreover, allow us to create another Addis Ababa in Tigray. Do not wage war on Tigreans.
Another huge compliment to @flyethiopian that India and Pakistan fought over hiring former ET CEO Tewolde Gebremariam, with India winning. Not only is India getting a phenomenally talented CEO, but also one with knowledge of ET's incredible system.
