This weekend, I finished #BeastBreaker by @VodeoGames, a Switch/Epic Store exclusive which has quickly snuck up on me to become one of my favourite games of 2021, right up there with Metroid Dread and Monster Hunter: Rise.

@NoSoloBits Such a shame that the localisation lost the music for Mezase Tenkaichi here, as well as Makafushigi Adventure and Romantic Ageru Yo elsewhere. Though you can patch them back in with some effort! And the EU version has Japanese voices, too.

Absolutely perfect use of Shunsuke's music here, with Son Goku hitting Vegeta so hard with the Kaio-Ken that it cuts out the music *twice*.

@_the__Goat_ @FBXGargoyle I'm a little confused, too; I grew up with PC FFVII (big box!), and it absolutely uses MIDI which sounded poor on most systems; in fact, they had a promotion with Yamaha GX sound cards so you get a version of the MIDI which at least *sometimes* sounded closer to the PS1 original.

Perfect use of insert M814; the rare epic narration interjection; Norio Wakamoto and Masako Nozawa at their peak; the sound reverb effects editing and moments of silence... *this* is why OG Japanese broadcast Z is the perfect version (manga aside) of this and many other moments

Also, you probably know this already, but in Super Gokuden: Kakusei-Hen on the SNES, you change the outcome here so that Gohan/Kuririn/Piccolo's attack succeeds, and then Tenshinhan finishes Nappa off with the Kikōhō (but still dies)!
