No amount of Truth in Lending Disclosures can cure stupidity.
We really need to dedicate a semester of High School math to explaining amortization to people, and maybe that taxes and insurance aren't actually related to your loan (this would also fix the "why am I paying property taxes after I've paid off my loan?" crowd).
People get so fixated on the low principal payments at the start of an amortizing loan and miss that it's working exactly how it says on the package.
@ninthhostage@fismat@jongeeting Vanguard in CC would be great for Philadelphians and I think the right choice for the company but the talent pool doesn’t materially change
I know I’m being woefully reductive but the Spurs made lite-ish work of the McCain Thunder tonight.
Him in the rotation is not ideal, however lovable a player he is.
Saying nothing of the rest of this…Being overqualified is obviously a bad thing because overqualified people switch jobs as new opportunities arise that better align with their experience
I crafted myself a nice nasty email to Capital One. Yes, I cc the CEO, the Director of Talent, the Supervisor at the location, and Human Resources.
I requested that they delete my information from their pipeline. They will definitely NOT get an application out of me ever again.
For a basic role! This my first time applying to this role because I wanted to start bottom and work my way up to the position I wanted.
This recruiter knew what she was doing.
@pablofindsout He has a point but this ignores antitrust as an issue, the consumer as an influence and misunderstands the streaming landscape + the goals of the market players. Google v Netflix v Disney is not the same as comcast v directv
@NekiasNBA Feels like there’s 0 considerations for personal security/psychological safety. Fake conversations with the imaginary version of a real person seems ripe for disillusionment
Kelsey Plum becomes the first female pro athlete to launch a verified AI “digital twin” that fans can voice call to interact with her, per @FastCompany
“It’s where we are in society… I think you’re either gonna get with it or get lost.”
Philadelphia, I hear you on the snowstorm and the cleanup.
We’ve been facing unprecedented weather — 9 inches of snow and then 9 days straight of sub-freezing temperatures. But we don’t make excuses in the Parker administration; we roll up our sleeves and get the job done.
We’ve put 1,000 city workers and 800 pieces of equipment on the street to clear our roads, streets and neighborhoods.
This week, we unveiled another strategy - hiring 300 Same Day Work and Pay workers to help clear ADA ramps in neighborhoods and near schools and rec centers.
Philly, we’ll do whatever it takes to make this right!

A video filled with a bunch of useless data points and ass-covering; terrible comms strategy. Just present a timeline and show the crews/equipment working and move on.
Philly, we hear you on the snowstorm and the cleanup. And there is a lot we are doing to get past this epic weather event.
In this update, Carlton Williams, Director of @phl_cgoffice, explains how crews are addressing snow removal in every corner and neighborhood across Philly.
Americans priced out of the housing market can now speculate on home values without buying a property.
Polymarket has launched new markets that allow users to bet on future home prices, settling against price indices from housing data firm Parcl. The markets, which debuted Monday, cover median home values in the U.S. and several major metro areas through Feb. 1.
The Eagles defense forced a turnover with 10 seconds before halftime at the LAC 30-yard line. The Eagles had two timeouts. These were the routes the Eagles ran on the play:
...Hurts threw the ball out of bounds with 5 seconds on the clock. The Eagles settled for a 48-yard FG, which the Eagles missed.
Why no middle-of-field routes with two timeouts?
Here's what Sirianni said: "You've got the ball there at the 30 with two timeouts. We're trying to advance it. We're trying to advance it. The way we tried to advance it was to the sideline, and it didn't work. We have plays in our offense to be able to advance it without getting too much in the middle, and then we have plays in our playbook that try to advance it on the sideline. We chose the one on the sideline and it didn't work."
