🎬 The federal government is investing $600 million in Canada’s audio and audiovisual sectors and directing the CRTC to review its new streaming and broadcasting framework.

📺 CRTC Modernizes Contributions & PNI Framework
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has introduced new rules aimed at strengthening support for Canadian and Indigenous content across traditional broadcasters and streaming platforms.
Key updates include:
• Broadcasters earning over $25M must contribute more to Canadian & Indigenous content
• Traditional broadcasters reduced from 30–45% spend requirements to 25%
• Streamers (online broadcasters) increased from 5% → 15% contribution
• Elimination of PNI framework in favour of new “enhanced partnership” model
• New discoverability measures to help audiences find Canadian & Indigenous content
