A’tin let’s give them a well-deserved round of applause! 👏 👏 👏
SB19 visited the DOT office last July 2, 2026 for a meeting. If I remember correctly, the Secretary mentioned earlier that week that two PPOP groups were being eyed to become ambassadors, and the press were invited to visit their office on July 2 and 3.
Some A’TIN were happy with the idea of them becoming ambassadors, while some were not. I belonged to the “whatever happens, happens” group. If they become ambassadors, okay. If not, okay too. The discussions eventually died down after a couple of days.
The only thing that surfaced publicly at that time was a single photo from inside the office. It came out during the bardagulan with another fandom, mostly to show that SB19 was really there. Other than that, there were no interviews, no press conference, and no official announcement, even though the media had already been invited to DOT that day. But it seems SB19 and 1Z preferred to keep the meeting private. Looking back now, I think they really wanted the project to speak for itself when everything was ready, instead of announcing it too early.
As fans, we all know how SB19 works. Some didn’t want them to be associated with the government because they felt it might affect their freedom to speak up against issues involving politicians or social injustice. They worried it could limit them from making songs like Kapangyarihan, DAM, Mana, or even What? that openly talk about power, corruption, inequality, and standing up for what is right.
Others supported the idea because SB19 has been promoting the Philippines long before this possible partnership. Fans from all over the world fly here to watch concerts, attend fan events, visit cafes, stay in hotels, and travel around the country. That money stays in the Philippines and circulates within our economy. They’ve already been doing what tourism ambassadors are expected to do, even without the title.
Personally, I just trusted SB19 and 1Z. Whether they accepted it or not, I believed they had already thought it through.
With DOT’s newest drop, I realized once again that SB19 and 1Z are always intentional with everything they do.
The past few months, the fandom has been divided because some people were still in the SAW era and found the marketing for WAS and this new era problematic simply because SB19 was trying a different approach. I remember a lot of us saying, “Just trust them. They know what they’re doing.”
This latest drop proved that once again.
What I appreciated the most was seeing that SB19 and 1Z know exactly who they are. Even if they’re working with DOT, they still presented the campaign the SB19 way. They didn’t compromise their identity or their vision just because they were collaborating with a government agency. They made the partnership fit their brand instead of changing themselves to fit the partnership.
I’m really proud of the whole 1Z team for that.
I also want to thank A’TIN for not leaking any videos or information about the negotiations between DOT and 1Z.
From what I’ve heard, this fan cam had already been circulating in some GCs for weeks. Some of the people inside were fans, yet they chose to keep it within those circles. Despite all the lashes during the sabit issue, nobody publicly leaked the meeting or tried to ruin the surprise.
I always say that I support the artists first before any fandom. The moment we become the reason why the artists receive unnecessary hate or become the center of controversy because of our own actions, then we’ve already failed them.
So again, thank you, A’TIN.
This reveal wouldn’t have felt this special if everything had already been leaked from the very beginning. Sometimes, staying quiet is also a way of supporting the artists.
