Today, we have successfully completed the course on the prevention and repair of abdominal wall, perineal, and parastomal hernias for colorectal surgeons. Participants attended both face-to-face and online. We were honored to have international faculty members Neil Smart, Frederic Berrevoet, and Eric Pauli (online), as well as national faculty members, joined us and shared their valuable experiences.

Throughout the course, we received valuable insights and knowledge from the distinguished panel of surgeons and researchers. The course was divided into two sessions: Prevention and Treatment. The Prevention session covered topics such as opening and closing the abdomen, prevention strategies for different types of hernias, and the latest evidence-based reviews on hernia prevention. In the Treatment session, we learned about various repair methods for parastomal hernias, incisional hernias, and abdominal wall loss, as well as mesh management in colorectal surgery.

We also had the opportunity to watch and learn from video presentations, including Keyhole Repair, Sugarbaker Repair, Pauli Repair, and Robotic Repair.
