Being naked with your partner without actually having sex, just caressing each other, whispering sweet things, admiring each other’s energy, and enjoying each other’s raw presence. Yes, please. 🥹
Not touching the relationship too much. Hear me out.
I think people sometimes ruin good relationships by trying too hard to make them work. Every little disagreement becomes a crisis, every change in mood becomes a sign that something is wrong, and every phase of the relationship needs to be analysed. They are too into the relationship that they forget themselves.
Sometimes, you just need to let things be.
Let your partner be a person, not a project. Let them have bad days without assuming they have stopped loving you. Let the relationship breathe without constantly demanding reassurance that everything is okay.
Not every argument needs to be won. Not every disagreement needs to become a three-hour conversation. Not everything needs to be corrected. And not every difficult season means you're with the wrong person.
Of course, this doesn't mean tolerating disrespect, ignoring problems, or avoiding difficult conversations. Some things need to be addressed and some boundaries need to be enforced.
But there's a difference between nurturing a relationship and constantly interfering with it.
It's fine to love someone deeply, communicate, make compromises, apologise when you're wrong. Put in the work. But also learn when to leave things alone.
Sometimes, the secret to a long-term relationship is knowing that not everything needs your immediate attention.
Give the relationship room to grow. Give each other room to breathe. Stop trying to control every outcome.
Some things get better when you stop touching them so much. Just let it be
Men need to understand that a woman will never make them whole
last week i was laying in her bed late one night. we hadn’t had sex, just enjoying some skin to skin, talking, soaking in the moment. There was some silence. I took it as an opportunity to peel back the onion.
I asked her what she was actually afraid of in life (questions like this build trust fast). She thought for a while and said, “I’m afraid of losing this. Of not getting to experience this with you anymore.”
Beautiful answer. But as I sat with it, I could feel something underneath her words that I've spent years trying to understand in myself. The fear of losing something beautiful. And how easily that fear can turn into grasping, where we start trying to possess something that was only ever ours to experience.
grasping is basically the opposite of what I’m trying to embody about love in this chapter. For most of my life, love meant finding something incredible and then trying really fucking hard not to lose it. Hold onto the person. Protect the relationship. Make sure they keep choosing you. After all, They’re yours.
But how can she be yours if she’s hers?
What I realized is this - underneath that energy there is deep fear. And Fear = inauthenticity = the opposite of love. I was shocked when I discovered this. Basically our entire lives we have been taught what “love” is, and it’s a lie.
not sure where this came from, but after a full minute of silence I took a deep breath (bracing for impact? always a bit scary when u disagree) and with my chest, I calmly told her: “the person you’ve been waiting for all along is you.”
After the words had rumbled out of me, She looked back at me puzzled. then forward again. We laid there for another couple min saying nothing. What I felt next will be a profound memory for years to come - i literally felt her body exhale. What i said, It landed.
I didn’t mean, “you don’t need me.” It was more like: I want you here, I choose you in this moment, I care about you deeply… but I don’t want you needing me in order to feel whole yourself.
After all, the warm fuzzy feelings (love chemicals), softness, safety, beauty you feel WITH another person is still happening inside YOU. They may unlock the door, but the room was always yours.
That feels like the kind of love I want to learn now. Devotion without ownership. Love without grasping.
Afterward she thanked me and told me I was "healing women," which makes me sound like some insane cult leader lol. I don't really think I'm healing anybody. If anything, I've realized how much these experiences are healing ME (I’ve had a few similar experiences this summer after ending a 5 year relationship). There's something beautiful about two people becoming mirrors for each other, reflecting parts of ourselves we might have never discovered alone.
She’s an incredible poet. She has this uncanny ability to drop everything mid conversation and just settle into a deeper creative state. What follows is always extraordinary. she inspires me to be more authentic in my own prose.
The next day she sent me what she wrote in her journal:
“Everything you lost
everything you thought was
wasted time
was the universe carrying space
for the person who was always meant to arrive.
— you —”
chills.
Maybe that’s the paradox of intimacy. You spend years waiting for somebody else to arrive, then someone finally does… and if the connection is deep enough, they point you right back toward yourself.

People say night intimacy hits harder, but have you ever woken up beside someone at 6 a.m., looked at them sleeping peacefully and just wanted to kiss their face a hundred times?
