Dear Lord,
Today, i’m finally dropping my hands. i’m out here draining myself trying to force outcomes and fix things that aren't even in my control. i gotta stop overthinking and just step out of the way because You can’t fight for me if i keep swinging. i just know you're about to turn all this stress, all this anxiety, into my biggest win yet. amen🙏🏽
Dawn Staley on a moment when pressure completely paralyzed her, and why the solution was to stop trying to lead like everyone else, and instead be unapologetically herself:
“I experienced something I’ve never experienced in my life. I was paralyzed. I can’t do this. You feel the pressure because you’ve got to perform.”
“You can’t be the one that dethrones the success that USA has had. I lost sleep.”
“I just kind of exhaled and said, ‘I have to do it my way.’”
“It’s a lonely place.”
“When it’s all said and done, it’s going to be me that failed or got the job done. So I just exhaled and said, ‘I’m going to do it my way.’”
“Don’t let this be an opportunity where you’re mad and in your emotions. You’ve got to learn.”
“Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you… and you just be the conductor.”
@nflrums Just to help your research team, don’t forget to include:
Wisconsin, UCLA, West Virginia, North Carolina, Syracuse, Oklahoma State, Purdue, and Virginia Tech.
@ManLook75@NFL_DovKleiman They have no idea that some of these players are actually taking a pay cut based on what they were getting paid in college.
He will be fine.
@WejuggernautEnt Happy about the progress this off season. Unhappy about the administration allowing Lincoln to remove ND from the schedule. I also do not consider SC insisting on ND agreeing to play week zero or the series ends a true alternative or compromise.
John Wooden shares a mindset that we all need to adopt every day.
"Yesterday is gone. That'll never change. Tomorrow is yet to be."
"How can you affect tomorrow? By today. That's the only possible way."
"I tried to get each player to make each day his masterpiece."
Don't get caught up in the past or worry about the future - make today your masterpiece.
Then he shared advice he gave to certain players:
"You've gotta put the past out. Good or bad, it's past - it'll never change. The only way you can affect the future is what you do today."
You can't change yesterday. You can't control tomorrow. You only have today.
Then he recited a poem by Vivian Larimore that he loved:
"I've shut the door on yesterday, its sorrows and mistakes. I've locked within its gloomy walls past failures and heartaches."
"And now I throw the key away to seek another room and furnish it with hopes and smiles and every springtime bloom."
"I've shut the door on yesterday and thrown the key away. Tomorrow holds no fears for me, for I have found today."
"Today is the day that counts. It's today."
The present moment is the only place where you can truly make a difference.
Don't carry yesterday's failures or worry about the unknown.
Focus on what you can control.
@WCCSG_ Frustrating. One step forward, two steps back. Now doing better in recruiting (financial commitment), but gave a coach the okay to drop 100 years of tradition in ND.
@BleacherReport@GMottaTV Typically it just takes letting a sponsor print the T-shirts in exchange for a brand logo on each one. Everyone leaves happy. No idea what happened
