Where does Islam stand in all of this?
Last night, I asked for the backstory to this ruling from the appellate court. And now, I understand the story better.
The Court of Appeal judgment to ban hijab at International School Ibadan, has restarted a heated debate. On one side, we want to defend our sisters' right to wear the hijab. On the other side, people argue that when you enroll, you signed a contract to follow the school rules. It feels like a trap really.
Do we stand up for our faith or respect institutional rules?
To get the full picture, we have to look at how Islam views agreements. Islam strictly commands us to honor our words. If you sign a code of conduct, you should keep it.
But an agreement must be built on honest terms. This is where the hypocrisy of the school lies. ISI sits on federal land and is owned by the University of Ibadan, which is a public university funded by taxpayers.
Yet, they claim a private status just to enforce a hijab ban. You cannot use public assets to deny a constitutional right.
This is why taking this case to the Supreme Court is the right move because we need a clear answer. An institution cannot be public when receiving funding but turn private when it wants to discriminate.
Win or lose, the bigger lesson for the Muslim community is about dignity. We cannot keep begging for acceptance in spaces that resent our identity.
If the law says private spaces can dictate their own terms, then our response should be to build and fund our own top-tier schools that celebrate our values.
True intelligence is fighting for accountability under the law while refusing to allow our religious well-being depend on their validation.
Allah knows best.
@YusufAsunmogejo Islam mandates seeking knowledge and knowing about these things is one of the advantages; you won't be scammed.
A friend (palmist) looked at my hand in 2009 and said I wouldn't live long, I just smirked. You won't believe the person died few months after. May Allah forgive her.

O People of the Sunnah, Do Not Stop the Da'wah!
A few minutes ago, I watched a snippet from an interview on Oyinmomo TV featuring the veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor, Sunny Alli. The interview covered his acting career, lifestyle, and several other aspects of his life.
Towards the end of the conversation, he was asked to address a rumour that he had started attending Ilékẹ̀ú (an Arabic school) despite being an adult.
Clarifying the matter, Sunny Alli explained that he is not enrolled in a conventional Arabic school. Rather, he regularly attends a circle of Islamic knowledge (ḥalaqah) held five times a week at the Ahlus-Sunnah mosque where he observes his daily prayers. He also mentioned that he attends the mosque's monthly public lectures.
The interviewer then asked a profound question:
"What have you gained since praying with the Ahlus-Sunnah and attending their lectures?"
His response was refreshing.
He explained that praying at the Ahlus-Sunnah mosque and consistently attending its lessons has made him more punctual and steadfast in his ṣalāh. He added that it helped him overcome his habit of betting and strengthened his understanding of essential matters of Islamic creed (ʿaqīdah) that are vital for success in this life and the Hereafter.
One part of his response particularly stood out to me.
He stated that he does not believe in many of the supernatural claims often portrayed in movies—such as exaggerated depictions of witches, human sacrifice, money rituals, and similar practices. At a time when we occasionally see some Muslim musicians and actors publicly speaking about such beliefs as though they are realities to be celebrated, hearing these words from Sunny Alli was truly a breath of fresh air.
That short clip left me reflecting on something important:
The Da'wah of the Sunnah is making progress. But we must not become complacent.
Our Da'wah should never be confined to social media alone. We must continue taking the message of Tawḥīd and the Sunnah to our neighbourhood mosques, our families, our communities, our workplaces, and wherever people are willing to listen.
Every sincere reminder has the potential to transform a life.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"For Allah to guide one person through you is better for you than red camels."
Never underestimate the impact of sincere Da'wah. A single lesson, a kind conversation, or an invitation to the mosque may become the means by which Allah guides a heart.
May Allah grant Sunny Alli steadfastness upon Islam, increase him in beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds, and abundantly reward the imams, teachers, and everyone involved in the mosque where he prays and learns.
May Allah also make us among those who call to the truth with wisdom, sincerity, and patience.
Barakallahu feekum.

I logged into Facebook today and came across an update about the daughter of #Shaykh Qamarudeen, who is currently battling a serious illness and urgently needs treatment costing over ₦40 million. The truth is, my heart sank. I felt a deep pain, just as I often do whenever I hear of people facing such trials. What affected me even more was that this appeal had to be made publicly.
One would have hoped that members of our Muslim community would have quietly taken care of this behind the scenes, considering the immense dedication, sacrifices, and years of service this Shaykh has continually rendered to Muslims around the world. Wallahi, if I had the entire amount, I would give it without hesitation and without expecting even a word of thanks. We can never truly repay those who sincerely dedicate their lives to serving the dīn and benefiting the Ummah.
To my wealthy brothers and sisters, and to those with little to give, let us all come together and, by the permission of Allah, bring a smile to our Shaykh's face during this difficult time. No donation is too small when given sincerely for the sake of Allah. May Allah ease their affairs, complete the required amount without further delay, grant the child complete shifāʼ (healing), and reward everyone who contributes abundantly. Āmīn.

One reason most people prefer Ronaldo is because.
Growing up in the early 2000s when both Messi and Ronaldo made Thier debuts.
Most Nigerians only got to watch Ronaldo for Manchester United( which was a big team then)
They loved his flair, his Leg over tricks and his posture when about to take free kicks. We all stood the way he used to back in school.
On the other hand, Messi and Barcelona matches were hardly watched because then most La Liga matches were played from 10pm upwards.
( How you wan take watch Messi)
This early indoctrination has made people believe Ronaldo is better because they never got to watch Messi.
When we got more access to watch Messi, the people with More developed Brains were able to tell themselves the truth that Messi is better..
But the rest? They still love the looks, the Celebration, the Aura.
They're still in self denial even though deep down they know Messi is the best.
Congratulations to those who have seen the light.
For the rest of you. Continue wallowing in self deceit. Hate watching Messi is doing more harm to yourself. We will keep drinking your tears.
Messi will not stop winning.
