we created a sanctuary for the cats who need us most! Cats with special/medical needs, senior/hospice cats, ferals who can’t return to their colony.

Today, a tiny kitten’s life changed in an instant.

A friend of one of our volunteers witnessed this baby being hit by a car. (Or, thrown. We aren’t quite sure) We rushed the kitten straight to our veterinary partners, hoping for the best.

The diagnosis was just heartbreaking.

🆘🆘 GREEN TEA (ID 251111), 2 YO, MALE – IN MANHATTAN ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 4/2/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person health - medical. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿

➡️ 46 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT

➡️ GREEN TEA IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥

What my friends at ACC say about me: I have lived with cats in my previous home. I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. Hi, my name is Green Tea, and the shelter has been a little overwhelming for me. I came from a home with many cats, who I've gotten along with well. Because I've lived in this home my entire life and have only been around one person, I have little experience with people and am hesitant of new experiences. I would enjoy living in a quiet home, preferably one with lots of vertical space so I have a place to perch and observe the room. I would also appreciate having experienced, patient adopter(s) who are willing to take things slow with me. I would benefit from socialization, using rewards whenever I make a small positive step like making eye contact, allowing petting, or sniffing your hand. I'd prefer to take things at my own pace and would appreciate some good old fashion TLC. If you can open your heart to adopt a cat like me, I'll hopefully have the confidence to come around to my new people, like you! ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

This poor crusty girl is filthy and congested. They shaved off one area of mats on her back at the municipal shelter but she is covered in grime and mats. I’m letting her decompress and eat/use the litter box. !

Mornings seem to be easier for him rn.. he ate raw rabbit for breakfast & we got some more cuddles in, but later in the evening was a hard reminder of why he still needs his surgery 😔. The great news tho is that I woke up this morning to $920 raised so far!! 😭
