What does a mask do? Blocks respiratory droplets coming from your mouth and throat.
Two simple demos:
First, I sneezed, sang, talked & coughed toward an agar culture plate with or without a mask. Bacteria colonies show where droplets landed. A mask blocks virtually all of them.
In light of rumors that the US Administration is considering an Executive Order to stop H-1B, J-1, and L-1 visas, I thought this would be a good time to remind people how lonely American science (or at least, CSHL Neuroscience) would be without immigrants....
