Yesterday, I had the distinct honour of joining the Body of Benchers at the Call to Bar Ceremony to formally welcome the newest members of our noble profession.

Witnessing another generation of bright, determined and accomplished young lawyers take the oath of call was both inspiring and reassuring. Their admission to the Bar marks not only the fulfilment of years of hard work and sacrifice but also the beginning of a lifelong commitment to justice, integrity and service.

As a Life Bencher, it was a privilege to receive these new colleagues into the Nigerian Bar and to remind them that the wig and gown they now wear represent far more than professional status, they are enduring symbols of honour, responsibility and fidelity to the Rule of Law.

I congratulate every newly called lawyer and wish you a career defined by excellence, courage and meaningful service to humanity.

Welcome to the Bar, Learned Colleagues.

MONDAY MOTIVATION: LEAVE NO LAWYER BEHIND.

As we begin a new week, let us remember that the true strength of the Nigerian Bar Association lies not in a select few, but in every lawyer, regardless of age, location, years at the Bar, area of practice, or professional standing.

For too long, many lawyers have felt disconnected from the opportunities, welfare structures, professional development initiatives, and support systems that should be available to all members of our Association.

The future we seek must be one where every lawyer matters, every voice is heard, and every member has a fair opportunity to thrive.

This vision is at the heart of my commitment to the Bar, an NBA that is inclusive, responsive, accountable, and genuinely committed to the welfare and advancement of all lawyers.

As you step into this new week, be encouraged. Your contribution to our profession matters. Your aspirations matter. Your future matters.

Because in the Bar we seek to build, no lawyer should be left behind.

Today, we celebrate the fathers, father figures, mentors, and guardians whose sacrifices, guidance, and unwavering commitment continue to shape families, communities, and nations.

Fatherhood is a lifelong commitment to leadership, responsibility, protection, and service. It is found in the countless sacrifices made in silence, the values imparted through example, and the steady presence that inspires confidence, discipline, and hope in the next generation.

As we honour fathers today, we also recognise the profound impact they have in nurturing character, strengthening families, and building a society founded on integrity, compassion, and purpose.

As we journey through this season, I am reminded of the words of Scripture:

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6

Life is filled with seasons of preparation, seasons of service, seasons of waiting, and seasons of opportunity. Each season carries its own lessons, responsibilities, and blessings.

As we continue on our individual and collective journeys, may we never lose sight of the importance of faith, humility, gratitude, and service. May we remember that while diligence and commitment are essential, true direction comes from God.

In moments of uncertainty, may we find peace in His promises.

In moments of responsibility, may we find wisdom in His guidance.

And in moments of opportunity, may we find the courage to serve faithfully and selflessly.

Thirty five years at the Bar teaches you things that no textbook, courtroom, or seminar ever can.

You learn that success in law is rarely built by brilliance alone.

It is built by showing up when you are tired. By preparing when no one is watching. By treating people with respect, regardless of status. By keeping your word, even when it is inconvenient.

The law rewards competence, but leadership rewards character.

As lawyers, our greatest legacy will not be the cases we won, but the people we inspired, mentored, and served along the way.

I HAVE BEEN CLEARED TO RUN FOR THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION

There are moments in every professional' s journey that call for quiet reflection.

Yesterday, the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) published the final list of qualified candidates for the 2026 NBA General Elections, and i am listed as a candidate for the office of President.

Over the years, I have remained deeply committed to the ideals of service, institutional integrity, and the continued advancement of our profession. The conversations across branches, law weeks, conferences, and engagements with colleagues nationwide have only reinforced my belief that the Nigerian Bar Association must continue to evolve with vision, inclusion, and responsibility.

I remain grateful for the encouragement, goodwill, and support consistently shown to me by colleagues across the country.

The journey of service continues.

NBA Makurdi Law Week 2026.

It was a privilege to participate in the Opening Ceremony of the Nigerian Bar Association, Makurdi Branch Law Week 2026.

I commend the Chairman, Executive Committee, and members of the Branch for organizing a well structured and forward looking programme.

Initiatives such as this reflect intentional leadership and a genuine commitment to the growth of our profession.

In my remarks, I emphasized a reality we must all confront, the future of the legal profession is no longer ahead of us; it is already here.
Technology, particularly artificial intelligence, is reshaping how we research, advise, and deliver legal services. The opportunities are vast, but so too is the responsibility to adapt.

I also highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing the work of the Bar.
Collaborations with institutions and corporate stakeholders remain critical to building capacity, improving welfare, and expanding opportunities for lawyers. I referenced practical examples from past engagements, including partnerships that supported initiatives such as the establishment of the NBA Friendship Centre, as evidence of what is possible when the Bar thinks beyond traditional frameworks.

Our profession must therefore move deliberately towards innovation, not as an option, but as a necessity.

I further stressed the need to build institutions that outlast individuals. Sustainable progress within the Bar will always depend on intentional leadership, collaboration, and continuity.

To our young lawyers, the responsibility is clear, invest in your growth, embrace innovation, and position yourselves for the opportunities that this evolving landscape presents.

I appreciate the warm reception extended to me and the opportunity to engage with colleagues.
