This is a long one. So, buckle up 🪑

🪙 MAX SUPPLY 🪙

Most efficient Runes mint TX is roughly ~516 WU. Every Bitcoin block can have a maximum of 4M WU.

If the entire block is filled with most efficient Rune mints, it'd contain 7751 UNCOMMON GOODS tokens.

UNCOMMON GOODS mint is open until next halving, which is 210,000 blocks.

If every block from this halving to the next is completely filled with UNCOMMON GOODS mints, total supply would be:

210000 * 7751 = 1.62771 BILLION

💸 PRICE 💸

It's reasonable to assume that every block will indeed not be filled with UNCOMMON GOODS.

Let's take a outlier scenario and say 1/4th of the block space until next halving is spent on minting UNCOMMON GOODS. That'd put the supply at 400M.

At a reasonable market cap of $1B, that'd put each UNCOMMON GOODS token price at $2.50.

As mentioned earlier, most efficient mint TX ~516 WU. That's 129 vB.

At 28 sat/vB, that'll cost 3612 sats, which is roughly $2.52.

Bitcoin's entire value proposition rests of censorship-resistance, which can only be guaranteed by decentralized miners competing to produce blocks.

The current state of Bitcoin mining decentralization is, unfortunately, not great. Many large pools which were previously thought to be independent now seem to be mere proxies for AntPool, with the same transaction selection policies.

Fortunately, there is hope.

Stratum V2 is an upgrade to Bitcoin's pooled mining protocol which allows miners, not the pools they mine for, to choose the transactions included in each block. This allows miners to pool in order to reduce payout variance, without giving up their ability to construct block templates.

Stratum V2 has been in development for a long time, but it works, it's basically ready, and it's time for serious testing.

If you're a miner, consider giving one of your engineers time and a few machines to experiment with Stratum v2, point them at @DEMAND_POOL, a Stratum v2 mining pool, see how things work, and report anything that goes wrong. I'm sure there are fine folks who would love to help you in the Stratum V2 Discord.

The Rise of the Shitcoiners

In the year 2008, the world had no idea that come November, a techie named Satoshi Nakamoto would send an email to a cryptography mailing list that would change the world as we knew it: "I've been working on a new electronic cash system that's fully peer-to-peer, with no trusted third party," he wrote.

Enter Caos, a designer like so many others, trying to make a living from his art. Financially, things weren't going great, so he decided to use his savings to buy a new monitor and upgrade his setup, hoping to turn his passion into a career. Caos was a branding specialist but had the skills to work in various design styles.

He visited a local store (yes, people still shopped physically back then, lol) and chose a Samsung monitor. Excited to have this new tool, he brought it home, eager to create.

But when Caos turned on the monitor, ready to dive into his work, his attention was entirely stolen by something in the bottom right corner of the screen. A small, pink pixel.

Frustrated, he returned to the store, seeking an exchange or refund, only to discover that a "few" dead pixels don't qualify as a monitor defect.

Can you imagine how maddening it is for a designer to have a pink pixel in the corner of their screen? It would be impossible to see anything else.

Caos returned home, angry, but as he stared at the pixel, his creativity began to take hold. High? Mmmaybe.

That pink pixel transformed into a face in his imagination, giving birth to countless variations he called the "Pixel Rosa Family" (Pink Pixel Family) on a Sunday morning.

For 16 years, that Corel file remained hidden on an old hard drive until this year, when we stumbled upon it in an unexpected place while searching for an old contract we had signed with our IRL company.

I've never believed in coincidences. Have you?

We started discussing how much they reminded us of CryptoPunks and how crazy it was that Caos had created this artwork a full 9 years before they even existed.

Eager to be part of the Bitcoin Ordinals movement, Caos used that very file as our foundation and began generating what we all know as traits. Then we created thousands of variations, which we've come to call Shitcoiners.

In the Shitcoiners, we see ourselves – a community of misfits, rebels, and dreamers, united by our shared passion for art, technology, and the boundless potential of human creativity. And, ok, maybe we're gamblers too.
