Completely disingenuous. Are you going to acknowledge that FLPMA already provides a process to sell or transfer federal land.
You just oppose the public actually having input and the money going toward access/conservation rather than the treasury to offset your bill.
Some opponents of my lands bill are taking an absolutist approach, insisting that the total acreage of federal land must *never* diminish—even by a fraction of one percent & even if the land in question is connected to established, residential neighborhoods
Is that reasonable?
@hauserdan Please enlighten us then on what "the truth" is.
The truth is we have a process for disposing lands that no longer serve the public. The problem is the public actually has to be notified and allowed to comment in that process.
@hauserdan@YelCed94 Why is there no language requiring affordable housing?
What are "associated community needs" golf courses, data centers, strip malls?
Who's an "interested party" that can nominate parcels? Large corporations? Bill gates?
Why after 10 years can the land be used for any purpose?
@KadFnord@LittlePineCO@WallStreetApes@sinsparisi And stolen? The US government acquired that land by paying in money and blood, then formed territories which then they allowed to apply for statehood. No western state paid for or shed blood in the name of acquiring land so how could it be "stolen" from a state?
@KadFnord@LittlePineCO@WallStreetApes@sinsparisi Every state admitted since Ohio signed an enabling act disclaiming all right and title to all public lands within their boundaries.
it quite literally is in the hands of the people right now, instead of developers and billionaires like it will if states get ahold of them
Folks, we all love to have a good time on New Years Eve. But please think about our furry dog friends who get really perturbed by snaps, bangs, and loud, dissonant noises. So please, as a courtesy to all the pets in your neighborhood, refrain from playing the music of Sam Hunt.
We wish we were getting ready for you to be in these seats for this series. Instead, we want to make sure you’re ready to cheer us on from home.
