@ParagonPE@VarsityGamingTV I understand why you'd support permanent bans and understand why you think even 1 cheater isn't worth the risk for many who would not. I think it's just a difference of opinion. I think the bigger problem is how long it takes to even detect cheaters.
@ParagonPE@VarsityGamingTV Perhaps then this is the fault of me not playing Siege very often and coming back once and a while, as this sounds like something that would get someone banned VERY quickly and impact far fewer games than the reformed players will.
@ParagonPE@VarsityGamingTV You can very easily separate reformed cheaters from repeat offenders, by making the punishment harsher on repeat offenders. Does the games that 5 cheaters ruin until they get banned again offset the games that 95+ reformed cheaters positively influence?
@ParagonPE@VarsityGamingTV Sure a minority will definitely ruin matches. However, I still think the idea that an immature teenager can cheat in your video game and be barred from even playing it as a matured adult seems excessive yes. I do not cheat, nor am I banned.
@ParagonPE@VarsityGamingTV It's very likely most will not cheat again after let's say like 5+ years of being banned, even though some will.. just ban them again but for longer. If we truly care about cheater risk prevention, we would perm ban people on siege who have never played, but cheated in cs.
@ParagonPE@VarsityGamingTV I'm not talking about allowing cheaters to play in your game. I'm talking about players who cheated years ago and have a good chance they no longer will. You're essentially preventing 95 people from coming back to your game because 5 of them will cheat again. People mature
@ParagonPE@VarsityGamingTV Ubisoft is well within their rights to ban whoever for the rest of their lives for breach of TOS. All they're doing though is excessively punishing people who made a mistake, and effectively lowering the player base. Perm ban the account, let them make a new one after x time.
@ParagonPE@VarsityGamingTV If a 10 year old cheats in your video game he shouldn't be able to make an account even when they're in their 20s? That is excessive yes. Cheaters can most definitely change.
@prepboywannabe@gfinockio@RickMontreal@Cpt_RDubya@CanadianPolling If I were you I would wait to see the actual sentencing. This is probably a maximum that they are aiming for. In regards to the manslaughter case, the maximum is life but he got a 5 year sentence with time served, so 2 in prison.
