Pete Bevacqua on the possibility of Marcus Freeman departing for the NFL and matching other contract offers.
Said Notre Dame will make sure Freeman is at the "Top, top, top tier of college football coaches when it comes to compensation for college football coaches."
Hottest team in the country, team that none of the top-ranked teams wants to play, was 9 or 10 for the last month.
Committee caved to public pressure. Weak.
Notre Dame was ranked No. 9 and Alabama was ranked No. 10 in Week 14.
Notre Dame won at (4-8) Stanford 49-20, Alabama won at (5-7) Auburn 27-20.
Alabama JUMPS Notre Dame, swapping spots at 9 and 10.
Fast forward to this week, Alabama gets SMASHED by UGA, and ND doesn’t play.
Alabama stays at No. 9 and Notre Dame falls another spot to No. 11, despite the four teams behind them losing/not playing.
I don’t care if you think Notre Dame should’ve missed the playoff all along, but the committee just contradicted everything they stood for the past month.
Disgraceful decision making.
The College Football Playoff selection committee really screwed up this time.
The process has to work for the CFP to earn and keep our trust. This one didn’t. This one made a mockery of the whole sport.

So folks at @espn are upset ND isn’t playing in a bowl game after weeks of folks politicking against the lack of conference affiliation, using them as a pawn for their CFB playoff selection show, having the ACC network play the UM/ND game on repeat for 48 hours during Conf Champ week BUT now it’s a bad look they don’t want to serve ESPN’s best interest by playing in an exhibition bowl game? Got it.
I went to Notre Dame.
I thought Miami should’ve been ahead of Notre Dame the whole time. Head to head has to matter, IMO.
BUT: To say Notre Dame is a better team every single week, then to flip them with Miami when neither team played is not only illogical, but nonsensical.
it's a perfectly defensible decision, but the logic that got the committee here because they have these Tuesday night shows make the committee look foolish.
Notre Dame was ahead of Miami in EVERY CFP RANKING prior to today.
And NOW, all of a sudden, the Hurricanes leap the Irish? Last year’s National Champion runner up is out.
How!?
There wasn’t any logic waiting to move UM ahead of ND if Conf championship game outcomes are inconsequential. If Head to head was a factor, you had it all year. This isn’t a serious committee. It’s a made for TV event. Expand and get rid of the committee. BCS was a better formula. For ND, you now know 11-1 is the worst you can do to secure a spot in this current playoff format.
If the committee puts Miami ahead of Notre Dame in its final rankings, then it needs to explain why it didn't flip the order of those two teams at ANY point in the previous month.
Neither of these teams played this weekend. The committee put itself in this situation.
This is the worst selection committee we've ever had.
Cannot believe Alabama didn't even drop one spot after the SEC title game blowout. Cannot believe they waited until the final reveal to flip Miami-ND. Could have done it at ANY point.
Congrats, Vinny, on officially signing with @BigRedWrestling!!
We are so proud of you and all of the hard work you’ve put into achieving this moment.
Looking forward to supporting you as you chase your dreams!

Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love through 8 games in 2025...
141 carries, 894 yards (6.3 YPC)
23 catches, 227 yards
140.1 scrimmage yards/game
14 total TD
Name a better player in college football. I'll wait.
"Honestly, should (Jeremiyah Love) have played tonight? No. What did he go out there and do? He put on for the team and that's just what this @NDFootball team is this year."
