@pi_sneptomino@Foglk1@codywan21257524@Duhlorean98 Captain Clark killed someone in the opening scene. This is either a continuity error or more likely the backrooms re-remembering the still lifes. Clark has been eating the still lifes so they must be reverting to some state seeing as the 6 eye still life is seemingly untouched.
@Foglk1@codywan21257524@Duhlorean98 Kane mentioned preventing lorebloat in his creative process for this film. The bacteria being featured once without further mention wouldn’t make sense narratively. We also see the body of the async employee in the lair from the beginning where we see captain Clark’s silhouette.
@Foglk1@codywan21257524@Duhlorean98 It was most definitely captain clark. Bobby captures captain Clark’s silhouette on camera before he tries to climb back up. Moreover, captain clark picks up the camera and records Clark in the pool room. The Bacteria we know from the web series wasn’t in the film.
@notmyfullname12 And they don’t need to be to brick your device. Look up Shamoon. It was capable of bricking devices from user mode. Kernel level isn’t required for software to do whatever it wants with your PC
@LyingKJP User Account Control. It’s the prompt that shows up on windows when an installation requires admin privileges. What illegal action did riot take with their kernel level driver?
@notmyfullname12 Kernel level isnt required to perform things users are worried about. Plenty of malware runs in user mode. Believe it or not privilege escalation is a thing if malware wants deeper access.
@Cyndikate1 Any software you install runs the same risk of being able to do whatever it wants to your pc. When you install vanguard it doesn’t start in the kernel. You give it permission to go deeper. This same process can be followed for any software.
@BanditFerretEll@f1isabadsport@NThinn37492@Gigabear_X False positives in this scenario are unlikely due to how dma cards are actually used in the real world. IOMMU enforcement prevents users with detected dma cheats from even launching the game in the first place. Any bans taking place as a result would be manually reviewed
@CapsGotFixed@temp6t Despite the fact that vanguard didn’t brick pcs in this case, any arbitrary program you install is capable of the same. Doesn’t matter if it’s kernel or user level
@ShadowLordAlpha@Hawful User/kernel separation is for stability & isolation, not brick prevention. Shamoon bricked 35k machines from user space. The boundary isn’t a safety guarantee. Rootkits generally start in the user space. User/kernel separation keeps honest people honest.
@Saberceleration@stupidtechtakes I can assure you that kernel level access is not required for whatever your worried about. An arbitrary application you install is just as capable as a kernel level driver.
every time there is Vanguard drama on the TL, you get these people with no background in computer science let alone the game hacking scene, will just go and very loudly have the worst takes ever oml
