Bl. Margaret of York refused to pray with Anglicans. A few minutes later, she was dead, executed after refusing to participate in ecumenism.
Leo XIV, however, prays with Anglican leader and abortionist Sarah Mullaly. He betrays Bl Margaret's memory by participating in ecumenism.
There's indeed a difference between heresy and schism, and the SSPX is being charged by Leo with the latter only.
At the same time, every schism fabricates a heresy to justify itself. In Quae in Patriarchatu, Pius IX exposed the type of heresy behind illicit consecrations.

We all have to exercise patience and restraint with each other in this terrible and painful situation.
A friend who is a good and otherwise well-informed Catholic called the SSPX “heretics.” For those who are similarly confused, heresy “is the obstinate denial or obstinate doubt after the reception of baptism of some truth which is to be believed by divine and Catholic faith” (Code of Canon Law, can. 751).
The bishops and priests of the SSPX do not deny any divinely revealed truth of faith.
Dissenting from non-definitive teachings is not heresy.
Moreover, they were excommunicated today for schism not heresy. And that is very different. And good Catholics may (and do!) disagree in good conscience over whether the SSPX’s act of consecrating bishops without a papal mandate is schismatic. And I am NOT stating here my opinion on that so do not read anything into this statement that I do not explicitly state. I said what I said. Nothing more, nothing less. You likely do not know what I’m thinking in matters on which I do not explicitly comment.

@NovusOrdoWatch I think the highlight is that the Vatican is saying the 733 priests of the Society, too, are being automatically excommunicated. Didn't happen in 1988.
Mass excommunications for traditionalists. Endless promotions for heretics and LGBTQ-Mass celebrants.
@AmericanReform_ It's ironic that, immediately after claiming that those "separated from Catholic unity" are nonetheless in the one and true Church, Paul VI goes on to quote Mystici Corporis...
@LouieVerrecchio@BigModernism I didn't so much want to defend him as I wanted to understand how picking on certain potentially embarrassing aspects of his personal life helps establish your case.
Reading his work can be difficult at times, as it often sounds wooden and repetitive. Speaking of AI usage:
@LouieVerrecchio@BigModernism X doesn't allow the post to be read for suspicion of "abuse," so it's hard to understand what is going on.
I appreciate that you are calling him out for the evident heavy-handed use of AI, but I wonder how helpful it is to call him 'pansy' and the like.
@FrLavery@OttoLoweUrsus@realsedepicante No one claims the U.S. Constitution and laws openly oppose Church teaching. Yet despite the good aspects of the American experiment, the legislators’ 'forma mentis' and its tacit underlying principles betray their indifferentism, liberalism, and Masonic influences. It's both/and.
@FrLavery@realsedepicante@AmericanReform_ I don't follow the Thesis and fail to find a conflict here. The Popes praised the practical fruits of the American enterprise, especially the religious tolerance which allowed the Church to flourish, while simultaneously condemning liberalism, indifferentism, and Freemasonry.
@StARadtrad Relationships, personal anecdotes and subjectively-assessed 'kindness' are not criteria to determine who is speaking truthfully. Doctrine is the standard.
NO, THIS ISN'T A JOKE. It's real.
Leo XIV lets a pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ, pro-euthanasia Popette lead him in prayer, saying they share a "common vocation."
He's the polar opposite of Leo XIII, who wrote a warm apostolic letter urging Anglicans to return to the Catholic Church.

@rosaryknight It is very easy to fall for the sins of the flesh, but Leo XIV thinks that one should be more worried about "religious liberty"...
On another note, I don't think you believe Jacinta is a canonized saint as the image says.
@FrLavery@CathFamPodcast Fr. Lavery, since you're openly addressing Kevin on this, it would be fitting to pair your admonition with a comment on Catholic women speaking publicly about theological matters, in light of what the Doctors of the Church have said about ladies participating in public disputes.
@traditionwisdom That Christ abolished the Old Law by establishing the New Covenant is legitimate traditional parlance. "By the death of our Redeemer, the New Testament took the place of the Old Law which had been abolished." (Mystici Corporis 29, cp. Heb 13:8.)
Is Pius XII contradicting Christ?

IRONY: Leo XIV urged Steubenville youth to “take advantage of moments of silence" during their summer conferences.
Silence? Steubenville conferences? Those famous for their high-energy noise, loud music, and charismatic "Eucharistic Adoration"?

@Bug_Hall@FrDaveNix 4. It is obviously not self-evident that explicit disobedience to one's alleged highest authority is relevant to the act in question. The reading of the Apostolic Mandate is a formal requirement of the rite of consecration.
