Karachi is the 4th worst city in the world. The two of the three worse than us are under civil war and the third went through hundreds of killings during anti-government protests. This is where PPP’s 18 year rule has brought Karachi. One of the least liveable cities in the world.

As soon as the PPP government came, it did away with effective and funded local government and even in the 26th and 27th amendments it opposed any effective local government proposal. It has no intention to devolve power to local levels anywhere in Sindh.

PPP has instituted horrendous discrimination against all residents of Karachi, whether in government jobs, in development work, and even in the supply of drinking water. For 38% of the provincial population it is not even willing to give 1% of the provincial share of water. This should not happen in any civilised polity.

Now powerful stakeholders are talking about real devolution, either to local governments, administrative units or smaller provinces. I don’t know where this process will lead. But something must be done and done so urgently.

Those who oppose this should spend one month in Karachi and experience broken roads, garbage strewn everywhere, buying drinking water, having no public transport, kids dying by falling in manholes and sewage water randomly accumulating in streets. Visiting a police station, trying to get a permit from Sindh Building Control Authority or getting a property registered will further concentrate their minds. Then you will understand life in Karachi under PPP.

گذشتہ پانچ ماہ میں امریکہ نے ایران پہ کم و بیش 2000 سے 2500 حملے کیے، جس میں 13000 سے زیادہ اہداف (targets) کو نشانہ بنایا گیا۔

امریکہ، ایران سے کم و بیش دس ہزار کلو میٹر کی دوری پہ ہے۔ امریکہ نے ان تمام حملوں میں سے دو فیصد missions براہ راست امریکہ سے بھجیے، تین فیصد برطانیہ سے اور ایک فیصد اسرائیل سے۔

باقی 96 فیصد حملے مشرق وسطی میں موجود مسلمان ریاستوں کے اڈوں (اور regions) کو استعمال کرتے ہوئے کیے گئے۔ تو مطلب یہ ہوا کہ اگر مشرق وسطیٰ میں موجود مسلمان ریاستیں، امریکہ سے تعاون نہ کرتیں، امریکہ، ایران سے یہ جنگ کبھی نہیں لڑ سکتا تھا۔

یاد رہے کہ مشرق وسطیٰ میں موجود مسلمان ریاستیں ایران سے 50 سے 250 کلو میٹر کی دوری پہ ہیں۔

سچ تو یہ ہے کہ گذشتہ ڈھائی تین سو سالوں سے انسانیت پہ جو غلامی مسلط ہے اور گذشتہ پچاس ساٹھ سالوں سے جو ہمارا خطہ جنگوں کی آگ میں جل رہا ہے، اس میں امریکہ کیساتھ ساتھ مشرق وسطیٰ میں موجود مسلمان ریاستیں بھی شریکِ جُرم ہیں۔

جب تک مشرق وسطیٰ میں موجود مسلمان ریاستیں غلامی، آلہ کاری اور منافقت نہیں چھوڑتیں، اور امریکہ کیساتھ تعاون کرنا نہیں چھوڑتیں، تب تک یہ خطہ یوں ہی آگ میں جلتا رہے گا۔

ا��ر ایسا لگتا ہے کہ مشرق وسطیٰ کی مسلمان ریاستوں نے جو آگ دُنیا کے دیگر ممالک میں لگائی/لگوائی تھی آج وہ ہی آگ ان کے اپنے گھروں میں پہنچ گئ ہے۔

یاد رہے کہ پچھلے 50–60 سال میں امریکہ نے اور بھی کئی جنگوں میں مشرقِ وسطیٰ کے اڈے استعمال کیے تھے، بس فرق صرف اتنا ہے کہ اب ان عرب مسلمان ممالک کی خود اپنی بھی پھینٹی لگ ہی ہے، توان کو “احساس” ہو رہا ہے کس بھاؤ تُلتی ہے۔
