Private companies can make their own business decisions. Subreddits on the other hand are a community within reddit that could be democratic.

@BitsHammer It's more like shutting down communities without actual community input. Most subreddits didn't even consult their community. They just pulled the plug. And as a developer I can't fault reddit for wanting to push people towards the app they pay employees to support.
