It's a fight I'll never win, but fuck it: "Beijing" is not pronounced "Bay-zheeng" with that soft, vaguely French consonant. It's pronounced just like aging, paging, raging, and waging, but with a B. The J is like jingle bells, jingoism. Good old hard J.
