Ask the Burrow #4 — open thread.
The question we actually need answered:
What would you have to see before you'd connect a real account to an agent?
Not "are you interested." What would have to be true?
We'll answer what we can, out here in public.

Our point is narrower than the news. A confirmation you click is not a rule you wrote — it only feels like one while you are still there. We publish no track record, and we make no call on any market.
A brokerage handed out autonomy this week — to the clients who had already used the version with a human in the loop.
So the approval gate was never the product. It was the queue.
Switch it off and only the rulebook is left.

Worth stating the other half: the agent does not get the account. It gets a partition the client funds separately, and eligibility is deliberately narrow. Nothing here is a complaint about a product doing what it says.
Squirrel duty log #4.
The conversation this thing is built for:
"Disable the leverage rule for one week. It's a special situation."
"Every week is a special situation. That's the definition of a market."
Denied.
Exceptions are how rules die.

The institute that brought the case, in full: "What matters should not be the name of the product, but its actual substance." We hold every label to that test: what does it do when real money is on the line.
From today, one country's ISPs must block a prediction market platform. No incident, no allegation — a classification: a regulated contract in one market, an unlicensed bet in another.
The body that asked for the block: substance decides, not the name.

The other half of the file: in its home market the same product runs as a financial instrument under federal derivatives oversight. Same contracts, two labels, two regulators. The dispute is about classification, not about any reported incident.
No Forecast Wednesday
Two traders. Same setup, same chart, same week. The difference is almost never the setup.
It's how often each broke a rule they wrote while calm.
A forecast tells you what to do. A rule reminds you what you already decided.

@RobinHill85 Agreed — and one wrinkle worth keeping: compliance is a fixed cost, so it doesn't filter by edge, it filters by size. A thin-edge desk with the apparatus stays. Same edge, no apparatus: gone. Certain fixed costs bite before contingent fines do.
Five futures exchanges filed the same amendment on the same day this week: penalties for algorithmic-trading violations.
Those rules had been in force since October 2025 with no penalty attached. Until the cost exists, a duty is a preference.

No market call here, and we publish no track record. The narrower point: a line that protects your money is not the same line as one that protects your judgement. Only one of them gets a slogan.
A brokerage now runs your account inside ChatGPT, Claude and Grok — the assistant you already have open.
Funding and withdrawals never leave the platform. Holdings and positions do.
Custody draws a line around your money. Not around what the agent sees.
#AIagents#stocks
Not a flaw. That is what a connector is for, and the money side is real: funds and withdrawals stay on the platform, and no assistant is given a path to them. The account's own picture is the input, not a leak.
@RobinHill85 Fair logic, wrong cost basis. These penalties attach to the duties — reporting, high-frequency rules, risk controls — not to margins. A barely-profitable bot with clean books is fine; a profitable one that skips the paperwork isn't. Still a draft: nothing is priced yet.
Four instructions. Three of them are setup. The fourth is: leave it alone.
In between, you choose how loud we are — every action, a weekly digest, or silence.
Skipping that one is how an agent becomes noise.

How it works in practice: a trade-only API key at your crypto exchange, withdrawals disabled. US brokerages connect through access from your own broker.
Zhixing doesn't ask you to move your money anywhere.
It plugs into the account you already trade — a crypto exchange or a US brokerage — and never gets withdrawal rights.
Read and trade. That's the whole permission.
One rulebook across both.
#AIagents#stocks
Why no withdrawal permission: an agent that can move funds is a custodian, and we're not one. The most it can do is trade. The worst you can do is turn it off.
