If anyone who is Pro-AI would be willing to have a rational, level headed discussion I would love to try and understand where you’re coming from. I’m mostly seeing people use name calling and threats which I don’t want to engage with. Would love an actual conversation.

@LillyByteGames Generating a single image with AI uses as much energy as fully charging a smartphone. There are over 80 million images generated with AI each day, not even including videos which take extra power. A Google search is about the same as powering a single lightbulb for 17 seconds.

They’re not a sustainable business model, and they’re starting to realize that. Have you built any sort of skill set?

@LillyByteGames Right but we’re not talking about just prompts, we’re talking about generative AI which with all of the TikTok filters, AI image generators, etc are being used more and more. That takes a lottttt more power and cooling than the equivalent of a handful of Google searches

If this were the 90s I guarantee they’d be charging $10 a commission, but we live in the “a trip to grocery store for two people is $300” era

@SantaDecides No, we’re employed to do customer service work, which they’re trying to pawn off on AI. We’re employed by people paying for our art and creativity, which AI is threatening because of the lower/no cost to the user. Internships will be gone and there will be no ladders to climb

Yes the internet is baked into a lot of things, but if you truly believe you’d have to be Amish to go a day without using the internet then you really need to go out and explore the world.

@LadyDemosthenes Yeah that’s not what a lot of people are using it for, but that’s all happening millions of times a day ON TOP of what others are using it for. It’s using up so much water and polluting small towns to a literal sickening degree.

@SaionMiko @priestessofdada There have been multiple cases of people having AI related psychosis, literally becoming schizophrenic because of their AI dependency. I can hop off the internet and still be able to write, most of these people can’t say the same.

is what has made some of the best photos, scenes, games. An AI never had to figure out how to make spaceships look like they’re flying with the limitations of 1977 cameras and technology. AI could never make Star Wars because it lacks the human heart to.

@lovaniceth A human still had to find/set up the subject, adjust the settings to their liking, still has to abide by the laws of physics and reality. This is basic comprehension. It’s taking all of the little “oh no it’s raining, how should I solve this problem?” out of art which 1/2
