For the _Overall Zimbabwean of the Year_ category, audiences were invited to nominate and vote for Zimbabweans who dominated headlines or generated significant public conversation during the year. Nominees included Tino Machakaire, Wicknell Chivayo, Hilton Mudariki, Sikandar Raza, Scott Sakupwanya, among others.

Votes were received and the outcomes were discussed on air in the light-hearted spirit intended. We welcome the dialogue this content has generated and invite continued public engagement on who you believe deserves to be named Zimbabwean of the Year.

We have been nominated under this category for seven consecutive years, a testament to the unwavering loyalty we possess in covering this genre that ultimately took the country by storm.

Every review, every article, every piece – crafted with love and care for our audiences.

It even becomes more special given the name of this category: Planet Dodger. The category was renamed in honour of a legendary writer on Zim Hip Hop music named Donald 'Dodger' Marindire – who sadly passed away in 2021.

It is befitting that the category bears his name, for we drew inspiration from him in also starting to write about hip-hop in this country.

We have since branched out to cover many other aspects of Zimbabwean music at large, but we will forever remain loyal to covering Zim Hip Hop – our first love. ❤️

And so we do not take this nomination lightly.
