We've decided to sunset @zkmarkets.

The idea started roughly 4 years ago on IMX. We transitioned to zkSync, expanded to Scroll, and finally Abstract - where our journey now comes to an end.

We built all infra from the ground up. All pre GPT era. No AI tools, templates or shortcuts. We had bugs here and there, but we're very proud to say: Zero security exploits ever. This validates our confidence as builders.

In the last 6 months we haven't made a single commit to our code, except for package updates for security reasons. Still, the marketplace ran just fine. Costs were negligible and we could keep it going, but decided not to, since we don't want to offer an experience bellow our standards. The marketplace will cease to operate soon.

The hard truth is, that there is no room for multiple marketplaces on one chain. The top one wins, the rest fight for scraps. And that makes sense - splitting orders and liquidity creates only dilution.

We're disappointed that royalties still aren't enforced by major marketplaces (you still have to force them to do it). We always stood by creator royalties. But the market always rewarded whoever could farm users harder. We hope this changes, and we hope existing marketplaces work harder to protect their users from exploits - thats whats important.

We launched no token. Nobody is getting rugged by this shutdown.

We worked hard, delivered everything we promised, and the devs who helped build zkMarkets are now contributing to other abstract projects and beyond.

Thank you to every user, creator, and collector who trusted our marketplace, launchpad, and tools. We learned more than we could've imagined.
