El gato cabeza plana (prionailurus planiceps), uno de los felinos salvajes más raros y amenazados del mundo, fue redescubierto en Tailandia casi 30 años después de su último avistamiento documentado. Según informó AFP, cámaras trampa instaladas en el Santuario de Vida Silvestre Princess Sirindhorn, en el sur del país, captaron imágenes del que se consideraba posiblemente extinto en esa región desde 1995.

Las cámaras, instaladas en 2024, captaron numerosas imágenes durante dos años, incluyendo 16 detecciones en 2025. Una de las más destacadas fue la de una gata de cabeza plana con su cría, confirmando que la especie se reproduce con éxito en el sur de Tailandia.
