#MAFS has once again shown us that the ethical codes of practice for many of our #helpingprofessions are meaningless when it comes to reality television, where #harm, blatant conflicts of interest and breaches of #researchethics codes are the norm.

Absolutely appalling form @VLine. No notice of buses replacing trains on the Warrnambool line and 40 minute delay. People here on the Terang platform missing work and family commitments.
Reminder that Mon 12th June I'm in conversation with @carolinehearst at @AutAngel talking about therapy & harm in therapy for autistic people. This is likely my penultimate event of 2023 (last being NCD on June 24th) as I prepare for supervision training. https://t.co/dwY654xTSw
When MH services are failing people at a staggering rate, when marginalised ppl are unable to access training & services, when MBs are making record profits, it is EXACTLY the time to point our fingers at our professional systems and say "What the fuck are you going to do?"
About to chat to the mighty Beverley Wang and her listeners on Life Matters @RadioNational this morning about AGEING… Not for the faint hearted. How can we face ageing with courage? Tune in after the news at 9.
In this home stretch of the academic year, I am channeling Norwegian forest cat energy to reach the finish line. Beware my staring eyes and hairy ears!
Such a great idea - a trauma informed dentistry resource co-produced with survivors of child sexual abuse.
I know too many survivors who have never been to the dentist because they can’t tolerate it. Important initiative.
@snappyalligator Thanks so much for sharing this. It’s really helpful for those of us navigating this. Makes me think of Roxanne Gay’s summary “Few are willing to consider the possibility that trigger warnings might be ineffective, impractical, and necessary for creating safe spaces all at once.”
@meeraatkinson It is used as shorthand and that can be useful at times because an understanding of trauma is so important, but it’s also part of a system of homogenized treatment approaches which aren’t ever one size fits all.
One of the key problems with language like #traumainformed is that it erases the person who is living with trauma. The trauma has not informed you. You don’t get to rest on your informed laurels. Each person has a new story and they are your informants.
