@wwindust @NayoungWeaver @kruu_justin @AbbyAppyYakYak@Ms_Aikooo@Ms_Baya@constancekkg @RamaNdiayeFrame @KristinaPennell Yes!! Thankful for these thought leaders who encouraged us to take a moment and just radically dream about what the future of education could look like.. 👏
Nope. Having Ss share about themselves & having a points system tied to it, speaking about Ss in this way & then gloating about mean you can get like it's a power play? These FB groups make my blood boil & my heart so sad for the kids who have to face these "teachers"...
Played #Kahoot & one of the answers involved "irony". I gave Ss an additional example from "Ironic" by @Alanis. Ss asked to hear the song at the end of class & we followed along with the lyrics. I guess you could say today was a very good day for 12 year old Zoe.
Today I rewatched the #IREL21 keynote by @tiffanymjewell. So many powerful reminders for the #deij work we do in the classroom. My favorites: "Everyone has power even though not everyone may be invited to the table" + "Who you are is exactly who you're supposed to be." 👏👏
I cannot think of a more deserving educator. I've learned so much from @de_fine already and am so happy to see others recognizing him and celebrating the important work he does to support growth within the international school community and beyond. 👏👏👏
Congratulations to #SASedu middle school instructional coach Darnell Fine! @de_fine has been named a new member of @ASCD’s Emerging Leaders Program! The selection committee noted, “Darnell brings unique leadership experiences that will make him an asset to the program!”
@DanielWickner Thank YOU! I always enjoy your snippets of gold and appreciate how the focus is always on students and learning. Now I just need to put a #TurnAndLearn anchor chart up on the wall.
4."I didn't spend the whole time just retelling my story." Then, Ss voted to make "Turn and Learn" a regular part of our classroom conversations. Shoutout to @DanielWickner for once again sharing an actionable & easy strategy for the classroom!
Yesterday, I told Ss I was making a small tweak to our usual "turn & talk". I asked Ss to "turn & learn" instead of "turn & talk". I didn't give much scaffolding to how their conversation should go but said I'd be asking them for feedback between which they preferred & why.
Some specific feedback from Ss: 1. "Without thinking, we asked who wanted to speak first instead of just both talking at once." 2. "Hearing from my partner gave me more ideas for my own writing." 3. "I was able to learn how my partner used genre conventions in their story."
