"Um akchyually it's disrespectful to the creators to NOT butcher their work" Just stop man, this is getting embarrassing. You say you want to learn what foreign dubs are like, then when you're told they're just like the original you don't wanna hear it

?????
Obviously a faithful dub is gonna have less to talk about, like what do you want people to say?
"I love this scene from the dub, it plays out just like the original!"
"OMG I love this line, it's accurately translated from Japanese"
That's just talking about the show
As an American fan, the only thing I hear about international dubs IS that they kep the original music!
International fans never discuss their dub unless it's shitting on the US dub. Don't reinforce the inferiority complex.
We WANT to learn more!
Americans actually think kids won't like a cartoon about evolving cyber monsters battling it out if it doesn't have exec-approved "fellow kids" music and then act befuddled when everyone else tells them that yes, they do actually
All I can think of to say is that Germany uses the same americanized names from the US dub (so still you guys to blame) and that our versions of the opening songs have super generic lyrics (nothingburger compared to outright replacing them). There, was that so interesting?
@dazettairyouiki Yeah, I have my issues with German Digimon too, but that guy seems to think international fans should have conversations about how our dubs are better than the original like US fans do, when the whole reason we tolerate ours is because they don't make any changes worth discussing

now i've come to understand one of the fears of a translator: "what if the original writing isn't very good and it makes your translation look kinda stupid"
Japanese reactions all seem to be praising this for breaking the stigma, but of course the type of weebs who claim to love Japanese media for its freedom of expression until it involves gay people are upset at this
4Kids adults worship Eric Stuart like he's some voice acting god when he couldn't do more than two distinct voices in Pokemon without resorting to this
BREAKING: SeaofSerenity just released fansubs for the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl series. You know where to find it.🐱
For the first time ever, the entire Pokémon anime exists with the original Japanese audio and English subtitles. #anipoke
Autistic kid constantly being called dramatic over sensory issues only to grow up to discover that when normies find the one (1) smell that bothers them they want people in jail for it
We should lock these people into some institution together with the "Sailor Moon is gay propaganda" people and livestream the security camera footage. Peak enternainment guaranteed
It's crazy how little western Pokemon fans care about the manga side of things, there was an official English translation of this covering the first three generations released in Singapore and it hasn't been scanned to this day.
I know all of the first couple volumes are already translated by other people, but I decided to shoot my own shot at it, have some fun, learn how to edit images better, and bring more attention to this awesome manga.
I'll post the first chapter tomorrow, but in the meantime...!
