i look up & don't see pete anywhere. i cry out for him, but hear some noise at the far corner of the boathouse. he's already down the racks

yeah, that was dumb, not quite all of the zombies were out of the vicinity & a few outside the door "sensed" me & started turning back

i slowly move away from my fat zombie camouflage & instinctively, like a stupid girl, start brushing myself off. as if...i'm filthy anyway

before i know it, i think practically all the zombies have left the boathouse, except for a couple of stragglers trapped behind the racks

i tuck back up against the fat zombie as another zombie practically steps on my face on its rush to get out. lucky though, it didn't hear me

well, more like a loud, harsh whisper...i yell up at pete, what's going on??? he's still staring, but shrugs his shoulders

seeing the urgency with which the zombies are practically stumbling over each other to leave, i felt i could take a chance & yell to pete

i can see more zombies shuffle past me, more hurried, starting to moan louder, out the door & in the direction of where pete is looking.

i see pete come back into my periphery & obviously looking off into the distance, or trying to. he moved to where he could see out a window

suddenly, i see hordes & hordes of shuffling feet go past me & even off in the background, zombies also turning towards the new noise

yes, i distinctly hear actual, real human voices in the distance, but can't quite make out what they're saying, just yelling & screaming

i move my head into a better position to hear & yes, it was what i thought...a horn honking, but sounds different somehow, & people?

all of sudden, i hear a terrific noise! so loud, like a horn blasting or honking or something. sounds muffled with fat zombie hanging on me

pete runs back along the beams, yelling the whole time, diverting the zombies even further away from me. i no longer see him in my periphery

i may *feel* safe for the time being, but i certainly can't stay here. can't run for it either...they'd be on me like a pack of wolves

in my periphery, i can see some zombies are not *entirely* fooled. they "look" around, definitely alerted but can't seem to zero in on me

he yells down, "so what'm i supposed to do? leave you there?" i nod ferociously indicating with my eyes i seem to be safe, but he's right...

i want to yell at him NO! i catch his eyes, look directly into them & firmly shake my head back & forth. he frowns & shakes his head too

pete yells down that he's gonna come down & get me. do our original plan of using the ropes to lower himself out of the window

hard to think straight though. every mangled foot that shuffles by me seizes my breath up again...as if they'll hear my very thoughts
