The Yoshiatsu Incident: Analyzing the Anatomy of Fake Evidence and Online Controversy
Hello friends. Today, we want to formally address the ongoing controversy surrounding Yoshiatsu. First, we must look at the devastating fallout of this cancellation campaign: the supergroup DRUGS has officially disbanded, Fukuro has entered an indefinite hiatus, and Yoshiatsu himself has suspended all activities.
The internet quickly labeled Yoshiatsu with the gravest terms without reviewing official statements. In his public address, Yoshiatsu explicitly stated that he has never had a relationship with a minor. He clarified that while some claims are loosely derived from real interactions, a vast majority are distorted, inaccurate, or entirely fabricated to maximize damage.
When looking strictly at the facts, the accusations dissolve. The young woman involved openly admitted she was 18 years old when they met. Under the revised Japanese Civil Code of 2022, 18 is legally recognized as adulthood in Japan. Furthermore, she emphasized that the artist did nothing criminal and that their connection was built upon mutual, sincere feelings. This cannot be categorized as a criminal offense; Yoshiatsu has the same fundamental human rights to engage in consensual relationships. While he admitted to a temporary lack of judgment regarding fan boundaries, there remains a massive gap between an ethical error and a crime.
The shared evidence collapses under basic scrutiny. The widely circulated screenshots show chat interfaces from Telegram—a platform notoriously unpopular for private communication among Japanese citizens. Additionally, these images are heavily cropped and blurred, a technique used to strip away context that would otherwise vindicate him. The accounts presented as Yoshiatsu’s completely lack verified badges, proving how easily these interactions could be fabricated using basic digital editing tools. Furthermore, the source behind the leak remained silent for a prolonged period, releasing these documents only when public discourse peaked to ensure maximum reputational destruction.
Ultimately, this situation illustrates the proverb: "You see the speck in your neighbor's eye, but fail to see the log in your own." The situation escalated excessively when users began sending Yoshiatsu explicit death threats. It is deeply concerning to watch an artist spend over a decade building a career—from Crazy★shampoo and DADAROMA to Fukuro—only to have his life's work disrupted in an instant by unverified internet rumors. He is currently living through this reality.
In conclusion, we want to emphasize that these are simply our personal observations based on the available facts. We are not trying to impose our opinion on anyone, nor are we blindly defending or accusing either side. Our goal is merely to point out the inconsistencies in the shared screenshots and encourage critical thinking. Thank you for listening to our perspective.

If you’re a fan of Japanese music and live outside of Japan, I would be so grateful if you take a moment to read this🙏

If you’ve ever wondered why more Japanese artists don’t reach out and do shows & tours overseas, the reason is pretty simple and the main one is the hurdle of selling tickets.
There is only a SMALL percentage of artists that can rely on the power of big labels/agents to promote their shows internationally.

Even in Japan, selling out shows is a lot more challenging than in past years, due to people just being satisfied with digital content. And considering it costs even more to bring a tour overseas, you can imagine how many artists are willing to LOSE money by doing so, if any.

It’s not just about the artist not being popular or sufficient enough, or that they don’t have the will to bring their content to fans around the world. In fact, there are so many fellow artists around me that I highly respect, telling me they wish they could do shows overseas, but know it’s not realistically possible, and as someone who yearns for the same thing, it really, really hurts inside.

More importantly, it hurts most that fans around the world will often never ever be able to see a show of their favorite Japanese artist.
I’m not trying to ask for pity, nor demand anything, unless this resonates with you.
But if it does, and you want to know what you can do to help us reach you with our music, it’s really very simple.

Please go follow artist’s socials.
Please go subscribe to their Youtube channels.
Please find them on Spotify.
Please interact with them by commenting and letting them know you’re there to support them.
Please share your passion with the people around you.
AND PLEASE, don’t miss the opportunity to buy a ticket and GO to their shows, when that miraculous opportunity comes, whether it’s a solo or event stage.
I am not exaggerating when I say it IS a miracle and it might never happen again.

I know writing all this isn’t gonna change much, but I just hope it reminds you that every listener, every fan, every second of support matters in keeping music alive, particularly in this generation.
