Having toxic parents or a toxic family is more challenging than those with relatively functional families can imagine. Nothing is ever a simple conversation. Almost everything is riddled with passive aggression, subliminals, trauma & projection.
I would REALLY REALLY REALLY recommend trying to feel your feelings in the moment somatically instead of intellectualizing them or you'll end up like me (processing a year's worth of intense and varied emotions all at the same time until I somewhat lose touch with reality) :)
People shutting down discussions of eating disorders with accusations of body shaming is genuinely so insidious. Anorexia has the highest mortality rate of any mental illness, and mainstream media outlets are using progressive language in an attempt to normalise it.
Bro people look down on drug addicts while they're addicted to their phone, food, a person and have a drinking problem. We're all dabbling in escapism, yours is just more socially acceptable
one of the biggest problems involved in this eating disorder discourse is the fact people moralize eating disorders and think that pointing out someone is clearly starving themselves and needs help is the same thing as bullying them and calling them mean names
Nobody likes you when you're depressed.
Plain and simple. We can talk all day about mental health and how important it is, but the moment you are depressed, people start to distance themselves. They see you as negative, a burden, and someone too heavy to handle.
y’all are letting american individualism melt your fucking brains oh my god hearing a baby cry while you’re getting coffee is not going to end your life. it’s part of being outside. in public. where people are. babies are people btw
