Amazing and hilarious story from Dustin Pedroia on the importance of different skill sets in baseball:
"I played with Kevin Cash [...] He was the worst hitter I've ever seen in my life. [...] And guess what [he] did, he played 10 years in the big leagues [...] He was the best teammate, maybe in the history of life." 🤣

USA. A Mexican restaurant. We had not yet ordered anything, and the food was already arriving.
Chips. Salsa. Unrequested. Free.
I stopped the waiter. "We have not earned these."
"They just come with the table, man."
They come with the TABLE. In my land, hospitality is a debt. Every gift creates an obligation, weighed carefully, returned in the proper season with interest of feeling. Here, the gift arrives before you have even proven you can pay for dinner.
This is not an appetizer. This is a declaration: we trust you. Eat.
I ate with the gravity the moment deserved. And then — I must report this calmly — the basket emptied, and a new one appeared.
"Did we…?"
"Refill," the waiter said. "It's bottomless."
Bottomless. They have wells of salsa. The supply lines of this nation are beyond anything my ancestors imagined.
My friend warned me. "Don't fill up on chips, dude."
Too late. I had accepted three baskets. Honor demanded each one be finished — an unfinished gift is an insult. By the time my actual food arrived, I was a ruined man.
I was not hungry. I was not comfortable. I had been defeated by a courtesy.
Generosity that arrives before the request cannot be repaid. It can only be survived.
I know the rule now. I have made my peace with the basket. One basket. Two at the most.
Who am I deceiving. There is no number of baskets I would refuse. The trust of a nation is in that salsa, and I intend to honor all of it.
Seinfeld episode 2026: Jerry gets tickets courtside and brings George, who decides, with the Knicks down 20 with 10 minutes left, he will leave the game early to beat the rush out of MSG.
As the Knicks mount a comeback he tries to get back into the Garden. He waves his ticket, name drops James Dolan, but nothing works and he ends up getting arrested.
Meantime, Kramer sneaks into the Garden and helps Mike Brown draw up the game winning play.
Swept again. 12 games under .500. Last time they reached this benchmark? September 1st, 2020. Chad Sox are 17-22.
0-28 when trailing by 3 runs+
0-36 when trailing after 8 innings
Still haven’t won more than 3 games in a row all year
6-13-1 in series (two need to be finished)
Nobody has homered less. Padres are the only team that has scored less. Roman and Crochet are still far off.
Somehow, a new rock bottom.
Rival evaluators just flaming the Red Sox offense in @alexspeier’s new piece:
“I can’t believe they are content going with so many [Triple-A] players — utility infielders — at the bottom of the lineup.”
“Lot of guys on the team who satisfy the model but are role players who are being overexposed.”
“I’m still confused on the Red Sox roster construction and truthfully how they thought it would turn out any different than it has. The holes that were there at the start of the season are still there.”
Commit to the sell and set the market. This probably wasn't a World Series winner even if everything went right. The young core is still in place and will be for a while. You don't need to tank and rebuild in 2027, just reload with better use of free agency funds.
-Aroldis Chapman and Sonny Gray can net you a ton. -Might be the right time to sell on Whitlock too.
-Justin Slaten controllable for longer and much younger. Might as well hold on to him.
-Keep Willson Contreras. They need some veteran continuity for the sake of the young guys and he's a good fit for Boston. Need more extroverted guys who care deeply.
-See if you can get anything for Yoshida. May be time to cut the cord if there aren't any takers.
-Trade IKF. There will be a contender that covets a versatile veteran with that skillset.
There are 2 teams in MLB that have less wins than the Red Sox.
The Angels and the Rockies. What many consider the 2 worst organizations in the entire sport.
History!
2026 Red Sox become the first team since 1901 to have the first three hitters in their order all strike out in their first three at bats of a game.
125 years!
11 games under .500 for the first time since that abomination of a season in 2020, but let’s give all the executives a vote of confidence and say that we’re still a playoff team that’s not considering trading any assets. Should’ve blown this team up in April.
Ben Kholes won on the Korn Ferry Tour last night.
Said bye to his family & kids right after to catch a flight to DC for U.S. Open qualifying ⬇️
Proceeded to shoot 7-under today and punch his ticket to Shinnecock.
So sick.
Are the Red Sox 100% convinced that Craig Breslow is the guy moving forward? If he is, great. Come out and say that. If he’s not, why would he be handling this trade deadline?
