The Man Who Fought in World War II with a Sword and a Bow (1940)
From the image below, you can see soldiers during an amphibious assault. The soldier in front of them (highlighted) is Jack Churchill. He was a soldier in World War II who did extraordinary things. But what about him made him stand out? If you look closely at the picture, Churchill is holding a sword. This is the story of "Mad Jack," the man who fought a war with a sword, bow, and arrows.
Churchill was part of the British army in Burma between WWI and WWII. He left the army when he returned to Britain in the 1930s but re-joined in 1939 to fight in WWII.
In 1940, Churchill went to France, where he carried out small raids against the Germans. The British forces suffered heavy casualties at the time; however, Churchill pushed on. It was during this time that he killed a German soldier with his bow and arrow, becoming the last known soldier in modern combat to do so. He also saved a British officer and received a medal for his bravery.
In 1941, Jack was part of an assault in Norway, where he charged the beaches with his sword, defeating the German defenses.
In 1943, Jack led his troops to capture key towns in Italy, taking 139 prisoners.
In 1944, Jack was in Yugoslavia helping communist partisans fight against the German invasion. During the battle of a hill called Point 622, Jack was captured. He was sent to Berlin for interrogation, as the Germans thought he was related to British Prime Minister Winston Churchill due to their last names.
Jack was then sent to Sachsenhausen concentration camp, where he escaped but was recaptured. He was subsequently sent to another concentration camp in Bavaria. In April 1945, he escaped again, hiking 150 miles with a sprained ankle, surviving by stealing vegetables from gardens. After 8 days, he met a US patrol and was sent back to England.
After the war had ended, Jack went on to serve in Palestine. He left the army in 1959 and died in 1996. When asked why he used a sword in WWII, he said: "Any officer who goes into action without his sword is improperly dressed."
This git says he won’t deal with a Tory government but is happy to negotiate with the SNP. Is it too much to ask medics to be medics instead of dreary 6th form philosophers? So far his actions have cost the NHS £1billion. All so Robert here can pretend he’s sodding Che Guevara.
On July 27, 1981, six-year-old Adam Walsh and his mother Revé went to a Sears department store in a Hollywood, Florida mall to shop for lamps. When they entered the store, Adam spotted a group of teenagers playing an Atari video game system and asked if he could watch them. His mom agreed since the lamps were just a few aisles over. However, when Revé returned less than 10 minutes later, Adam was gone.
It was later discovered that a security guard had kicked the teens out of the store when they became rowdy while playing. The guard assumed Adam was with them and made him leave the mall too, but he was too shy to speak up to say that his mother was nearby.
Adam was then abducted just outside the store, and his severed head was found in a drainage canal 100 miles away two weeks later.
Adam's father, John Walsh, became an advocate for victims of violent crimes and this led to John Walsh starting the television program America's Most Wanted on February 7, 1988.
@historyinmemes That story didn't have the ending I was expecting!
Poor little kid!
What, if anything, did the security guard/shop, have to say for himself after that? Did they catch the murderer?
@RuneScape And how long till you have to do a full game roll - back? lolz 😉😁
Although it seems that there are already issues!
@JagexTimbo
has broken the game!
So, let's be clear - this witless numpty went to Greece for three weeks (let's assume she didn't go by bike), then sat in her room for an entire week with the aircon blasting (the equivalent of driving a car for about 200 miles), but WE have to do something about climate change?
#MarcusDecker will be returning home by foot, when he's deported, following the serving of his sentence, won't he?! #AskingForAFriend
Surely, he wouldn't be so hypocritical as to be the cause of more transport CO2 going into the atmosphere, would he?
#CourtOfAppeal#JustStopOil
@LeftUnityParty@JustStop_Oil Oh dear, how sad, what a shame!
It really couldn't have happened to nicer people!
Just a shame, the police didn't go the full Orgreave on them, with severe use of their truncheons upside the heads of the protestors!
@carebearonsteam@UntangledangFa So, do tell us ivan, which parts have you had lopped off, just for the sake of it and some attention seeking? Because that's all it is! Attention seeking! Only anyone with any sense thinks you're all pathetic f-wits!
@carebearonsteam@peacelove1967 It's only life saving when it's done as part of cancer treatments!
Pandering to mental problems is not treating cancer!
Shame on you that thinks its ok for young girks to be permanently mutilated for no good reason! Give yourself a slow handclap!

A woman reports that her neighbour flaunts his genitalia by large windows for several hours every day, and with the lights on if it's dark. She decides to not report him to the police because she fears they will side with him - as he probably also says he identifies as a woman
